its amazing if you go to some neighborhoods there are some places that make a fortune selling what is referred to as peasant food. sheepshead i spent a lot of time either in johns or white castle, chances are i have seen the guy you are talking about. btw if you want white castle now you have to go to ft hamilton pkway and 42 st. or you can be adveterous and go to atlantic ave or penn ave in starret city for murder burgers.

I had some the other day when i saw my buddy up in the Bronx. Funny the next day i remembered why we used to call them MURDER BURGERS.

Oh, it is. Haven't made it in quite some time, but I think I need to do it again very soon. When it was made for me, the sopressata was homemade, which took it to another level entirely, but if you get some from a good Italian deli you'll be fine.

Dave, Just as with the perfect manhattan, you didnt fail with this suggestion. Luckily, even though a small town, we have a world imports and I was able to find fresh mozzarella and sopressata. I chose spicy and I made your dish. baked it 40 min at 350 and it is one fantastic meal.
