I am pursuing a degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois and was wondering if there are any possible careers in the tobacco world. Like in say fermentation or something of the sort. I am still a few years off from graduating, but it is always good to keep all your options open. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
All the people I've met who do fermentation are agronomists, not chemists. I think chemistry might come into play in the flavored cigar industry, more with the machine-made companies than the premium companes that I cover. Good luck, however.

Cigarette manufacturers employ chemists, phytochemists, botanists, etc. But you know what they say...you only get to sell out once. The science community doesn't usually like to hire ex-tobacco scientists.
