I recently attended a herf in Boston and we began discussing Big Smokes (the one recently cancelled in Chicago, those held in Vegas, etc.)Then the topic turned to a Boston Big Smoke. Has Boston ever been the site of a Big Smoke? If not, has CA investigated holding a Big Smoke in Boston?

There's a brand new convention center downtown, near the airport (among numerous other venues).

Just a suggestion.

We held a Big Smoke in Boston at least twice, maybe even three years in a row. The State of Massachusetts then passed a no-smoking law that essentially prohibited us from holding one there; I don't remember the particulars, but it just impossible to do.

Without tipping our hand yet, I can tell you that within the next few years, we will be looking at possible Big Smoke venues in the Northeast. We'll let you know as soon as something is finalized.

Gordon:

Have you looked into one of the casino's in Connecticut? I know they allow smoking there for now (our Atorney General is trying to limit that too)

Or is Connecticut too close to NYC?

Thanks for considering it.

If I could make a suggestion, Boston is reasonably close to Halifax, NS and although Halifax has a very stringent amti-smoking law that does not, I believe, apply to floating venues.

Essentially, a boat in the harbour could sit a few yards offshore and not be subject to provincial or municipal law and there are no federal restrictions to worry about. It would also be a very attractive venue and a great photo op.

This could work for Boston obviously as well but Halifax would also have access to Cubans and of course, since I live there I'm totally biased.

Just a thought.

Easy.

There are high speed CAT ferries for one but flying in is also not an issue and driving is always an option.

The airport in Halifax has an American pre-clearance departure area as well - you can clear customs in Halifax before takeoff.
