May I suggest that since we already have a CUBA & CUBAN CIGARS, and a NON-CUBAN CIGARS forum, we rename the CIGAR TALK forum.

Indeed, if you take a look at the subjects being discussed in that forum, you'll notice that the majority concern other topics beside cigars; most of them are political, or current events discussions.

Why not call this forum something like "ANYTHING BUT CIGARS" or "MISCELLANY"?

EYE don't think this is going to happen. It's been asked many times and they are going to keep it as their "catch all" forum. EYE have a feeling that EYE might see more responses to this.

EYE believe you will see more responses.

Well EYE believe that as it stands, "CIGAR TALK" is a very misleading name -- and confusing to newcomers to these forums.

But what do EYE know?

Thanks for the idea, but Cigar Talk is our catch-all forum. I've always envisioned it as the forum where you'd have any type of conversation one might have in a cigar shop--what cigars are good, politics, things like that.

I think we're going to stick with the number of forums we have now.

Actualy, EYE agree with the OP that either the name or the description should be changed, but EYE've come to realize that no matter what EYE or anyone else says, they are going to leave that forum as is. EYE just try not to draw too much attention to mEYEself and just accept it instaed of asking "whEYE?"

I am a new comer and thought the non-cuban thread was a forum for general discussions on cigars. I'd figure they would have something called "non cigar related" if there was a demand for a forum for everything else. My first impressions were that it kinda seemed that CA was only interested in Cuban cigars, kinda got bored with that, and usually just read the What's New section on the site, and videos. I never go into the cuban thread, because I don't smoke Cubans, and the non-cuban thread is anything else but cigars...so kind of disappointing.

Krieg, you may be confused (and I don't blame you, given the present categorization of boards on this forum). In fact, you will find plenty of cigar talk in the NON-CUBAN CIGAR board.

However in the CIGAR TALK board you'll find discussions about anything but cigars Confused

It's called CIGAR TALK because it's a forum to talk about anything that you might conversate about with another cigar smoker at a shop, your house, a lounge, etc. Similar to a Barber shop. Guys at barber shops don't talk about hair cuts. They talk about current events, women, cars, sports, etc. Guys in a cigar lounge talk about the exact same thing. Same with "garage talk" or "locker-room talk", it's not about garages or locker rooms,it insinuates a certain venue in which gentlemen can chat frankly. I really don't see why it's so confusing? If you don't feel like contributing to the CIGAR TALK forums then cool but what's the need to reorganize it? Tons and tons of members "get it" and contribute accordingly. Because you don't doesn't mean the forums need to be revamped.
