Mr. Dave Savona and Mr. Michael Moretti,

As a long time CA forum poster and subscriber I would like to say that I am sorely disappointed by some of your latest actions.

Can you please tell me why you delete or close entire threads when one or two replies may be offensive? I'm referring to the "Hot water and a blow up doll" and "Most useless poster" threads.

You are doing the same thing that the draconian anti-smoking lobby is doing to us cigar smokers. You with editorial control are pushing your ideas of what this forum should be onto us.

Yes, sometimes these guys get out of hand. They need to be reined in a bit yes, but to deny everyone a place to cut loose a bit is unfair.

Maybe just as the anti-smoking lobby uses the idea that "smoking hurts our youth" to restrict all tobacco use, you are using that argument to control us. Well I say poppycock!

Just as minors aren't buying handrolled premium cigars, I haven't seen many kiddies here posting about their favorite robusto.

While I was around in the CA Forums heyday when people were flaming like madmen and hijacking accounts, I am not advocating a return to that. I am however asking that you do not chop off a whole leg when perhaps trimming a hangnail might do instead.

Please don't drive us longtime forum members off. Give us a little leeway and let's try to remember that we are all adults here. If anyone is offended, they need not read those posts.

Thank You!

B.A.S.E #0001 <(O)>

The answer is simple. Because that is the way it is. Ask yourself the following:

Who owns the place?
Who manages the place?
Who are the stakeholders?
Who has responsibility toward the public?
What is the responsibility of CA managers, employees, agents and owners.
What responsibility does CA have TOWARDS its own CA employees, managers and agents?
What national or local laws, regulations or jurisprudence exist for all of this?

Anyone that has been in management would understand this.

What is it that some people cannot understand about this?

CA must protect its employees from abuse from the public.

And if you think a trained, professional, web site master or web site moderator would let himself be impressed, annoyed or terrorized by what goes on here. Think again.

NO ONE has to take abuse, insults, slurrs or name calling from the public. NO ONE!

And any corporation or govenment agency has a legal duty to protect its employees.
A LEGAL DUTY.
What is it that people don't understand about that.

I agree with your point about "only removing the offensive responses" to a topic.

Most of the original topics and subsequent posts are very entertaining, until one bad apple comes along. Well that apple should be plucked ALONE and the topic should continue on. You would still see a number of responses to the Bad Apple, but, unless they got out of hand, would be harmless.

The moderators here, can't be on line all the time, so when they do get to officiate they should only pluck out the bad apple only.

Otherwise, I think managing this process would require all posts to go to a Moderator first and once approved posted for all to view and respond. We don't want that.

Quebecmike that is a very precise and acurate comment as u have seen the grief given to the staff becuse of what they don't like about their free BB's, LOL never siezes to amaze me. and the complaints never end. whole perhaps not perfect, it is much better than many other sites, at least rules and guidelines are posted and if you don't want to follow them go somewhere that you can do as you please. LOL again Mike, nice comments.

No Hammurabi you didn't. It was subliminal. Or is that Rhetorical? Confused

ferdelance The saying refers to the fact that the US Soldier fights to upholds the Constitutional of the US. The 1st Ammendment to the Constitution is the right to free speech. Without their sacrifice America would probably be ruled by parties that don't allow free speech.

All soldiers, of every county fight for their country's rights, but some countries don't let their people speak or assemble freely.

And so ends the history lesson for today. Big Grin

So basically the word "US" in tagline is unnecessary?

No, I don't think it is, because some countries don't have a Constitution or the right to speak freely....some can't even reveal their faces in public, let alone their ideas.
