Hello, this is a complaint. It seems in Canada we get the shaft alot over US vs. Canadian prices on books and magazines. Now its been quite a while that the Canadian dollar has been very close (and sometimes over parity) with the US dollar.
So why is CA magazine still charging a premium of over 20% higher over the US price?
It does not make sense to me at all and is price gouging like other book and card publications.
There is no logical explaination I can think of for this. A marginal price of say 5% over the exchange rate is resonable but 20% or more is just rediculous. And people do notice this alot here.

Along the same lines, I recently received a subscription renewal notice by mail (at my Canadian adress), that offered me a year's subscription for 25.95$, suggesting that I make my payment online.
So I went online and, suddenly (as a Canadian subscriber), the price was 38$ for a year!
Luckily, I called customer service and was able to renew for 25.95$.
Nevertheless, that's a 50% differnce in price.

Come on, it's not like we live in Nuavut or the North Pole. Toronto is only about an hour from Buffalo NY.
Is't not shipping it is purely a scan by the publishing houses and distributors. If you pick up a greeting card in canada the canadian price is 20% more.

Have you ever taken into consideration the time it takes to cross the Canadian border. It is ridiculous takes hours the extra charge is warranted for the wait alone IMHO. Wanted to check out there Casino a couple of years back when i was in New York thats a trip i can do without.

I cross from Detroit to Windsor, Ontario, regularly, and the owners of the tunnel have finally set the toll the same for US or CDN dollars (at least on the Canadian side).
And the prices on duty-free goods are the same in US or CDN money. I miss the days when it used to be a 60% premium if you paid US dollars in cash.
Alright, the only conclusion one can draw from the price difference is that no one likes Canadians and they simply must pay for this fact...in the form of higher prices on printed goods.

Isn't it a high enough price to pay just to BE Canadian???

online the price is fixed and you cannot do anything about it....I initially called in and got a price of $44.95 usd for 2 years to Toronto, Canada. I didn't commit at first and then decided to just email in my order quoting that price. The CSR said she couldn't give me that price and I emailed back saying there is no way shipping costs should be that much. So I called back in and got the 2 yr subscription for $44.95 as first promised.
moral.....call in and you will get a better rate. Go with the 2 year for $44.95....thats the best deal.
