Hey David - If you're going to ban people, at least you can tell us all what the ground rules are. What's allowed and not allowed? Or do we have to guess?

You know, every other forum site i've been too lists ALL the do's and don'ts when you register. You have to mark that you did indeed read the rules. I don't see any here, yet people get banned. Kinda like a catch22.

We had a group of people on this site who spent their time trolling rather than talking about cigars, and that's why they were banned. There used to be a group who chose to attack other posters, particularly new ones, and asked them to leave. That will get you banned. Others have posted profane material and such. Most of this is common sense.

I understand the trolling part and posters that attack new posters. I don't get some of the recent "probations" where people are banned for a couple of days. I know it's CA's prerogative to control who posts on the site (it's a privilege, not a right) but this one is harder for me to understand. It is mostly common sense, but a bunch of cigar smoking buddies can at times discuss some "interesting" topics.

I just wish that we were given a little more free rein. I think that it is a given that we are all adults here. The youngest posters I've seen are in their early twenties and I'd say the average age of a poster is mid-thirties. While some people have the mental capacity of minors, we are all of legal age.
When we wish to express an opinion we have to resort to "half a$$ed" or "Sh1t." Everyone knows what we are saying, but we are forced to use these shortcuts, or otherwise curtail our expression, which is in itself a form of censorship. If we were talking in conversation face-to-face, nobody would even question the use of a well placed expletive.
I agree that personal attacks and trolling are definite no-no's. But other than that, the board should police itself. C'mon Dave, you know I'm right and when you hang out with your friends the occasional expletive or colorful remark is used without offense.
And while some things SHOULD be common sense, they aren't. For example a magazine that makes it's living primarily covering an activity constantly under assault by PC anti-smoking Nazi's should have enough common sense not to abridge the rights of it's most ardent supporters.

Can you say pi$$?

How about letting Saul post again?
There doesn't seem to be consistent enforcement of what we can post and what we can't post. The Admin will let posts go for a long time and then take the hatchet and cut it all out at once. Inconsistency creates confusion.
How about the Admin using some type of warning system for the offending posters. First time should get a warning, not moderation.
