It would be nice if CA could post a reprint of an article about Benito Molina and the H.Upman factory. Benito Passed away in Havana Saturday night. He was a friend to many on this board and to anyone who ever smoked a Montecristo #2.

In general, I would like to see more coverage of top personalities in the Havana trade. Remember the 'Star Cigars of Cuba' article from the 90s that featured top cigars along with informaiton on factories, rollers, etc? More like that.
Who's managing which factories now? Who are the top rollers? Who's doing the blends for new cigars like Monte Edmundo, Hoyo Short Robusto, the Edicion Limitadas, etc. Who's running the Habanos show at Altadis? What are their plans for the future?
I WENT to Havana because of that article. "5 Star cigars of Cuba". That may be the best article written in CA. I think it was the second issue that came out.
I agree! Great article and amazing photos. Actually, I think I was wrong and the article was Star Cigars of Europe. I'll have to pull my back issues. I started buying Punch Punch because of that issue. If you remember, they even did tastings of the fetaured cigars. (Back then, they did vertical tastings in the magazine like the one they did for LaGloria.)
I wish I could see more coverage like that in CA but I guess now it's restricted to Cigar Insider. Only problem with that is...no photos! I subscribed to CI for awhile but ended up disappointed in what seemed like abbreviated content and limited photos.
I think stories on cigar brands should always feature a vertical tasting...at the very least, it would give CA editors more cigars to smoke!

I think the cigars were: Punch punch, Hoyo Double corona, Monte # 2, Cohiba robusto and possibly partagas Lusitania. Im not sure about the last. They even wrote about the factories that produced the cigars. That was some writtin back then.!
There was one after that...in early 1997...that was much more focused on him and much more flattering.

He was smoking a Monte #4 in that article RyJ. That was my first box of PCs I ever bought. Nice cigar. You should try one sometime. Make an exception once in a while, lol

Oh, I do - just don't tell anyone.... In fact, it was the first cigar he gave us the day we met him. Of course, I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd later on use it to light the Esplendido I bought at El Relicario , but the mareva, although not part of any regular rotation, has it's place and time.
