We took a more active role in moderating the forums because of the ridiculous level of complaints we were receiving from forum users. The atmosphere in many ways had become untenable. That buildup coincided with our upgrading to a new, better software program that allowed for much improved control over the forums. It not only made it easier for people such as yourself to post, it made managing the few troublemakers we had easier as well.
We did lose a few people due to the change, but we gained some as well, and the complaints have dropped considerably. There's never a perfect system, but this way is much better than the old, in my opinion.
I know some people prefer the old way, but I think the changes are for the better. And if I had to do it again, yes, I would do it the same way.
