Any consideration being given to establishing a separate venue for those who would rather discuss politics than cigars? Sometimes, it takes a while to pick thru the Cigar Talk forum to find the cigar oriented threads.

I'm sorry everyone, but I have to post my vote for this. Thanks, Smoker99.

Thanks for the idea, but Cigar Talk is our catch-all forum. I've always envisioned it as the forum where you'd have any type of conversation one might have in a cigar shop--what cigars are good, politics, things like that.

I think we're going to stick with the number of forums we have now.

While I can respect you wanting a "Catch-all" conversation and keep the # of the forums the same, I do have to agree with the others that it is troublesome to pick through all the non-cigar related threads.

If you want a catch-all forum for all the talk that you might find in a cigar shop, you may want to consider changing the name of the forum as it is misleading. This has caused me to branch out to other forums when I don't want to read about jokes, politics, sports, "this or that" posts, etc. and focus on cigars.

While I do enjoy the people here and the different points of view, navigating does tend to be rather difficult when I have to fish through 14 threads to find something about general cigar conversations.

Just my .02

I am bumping this thread only because I really like this forum and the cigar knowledge shared on it.

The description of this forum states: "This is place for general chat about cigars."

I'm not trying to be a control freak, its just that I frequent a number of forums and the more on topic they are the better. You always have the general topics that people will inject EVERYWHERE (sports, news, politics) and it gets old and repetitive fast, becomes a waste of time sifting through it, and eventually I just don't bother anymore.

Thanks.

I enjoy the "other" topics. There are a variety of voices, from a variety of viewpoints, and a good bit of thought-provoking dialog. I especially like that unfounded/unwarranted opinions and statements are likely to be challenged - which isn't the case in many places.

It's unusual to find a single place where you can hear voices from all across the political spectrum, and it's even (mostly) civil... I value that.

It can get a bit tedious at times, but I believe that it's worth it overall.

Oh, and we talk about cigars, too... Wink

So many cigars, so little time...

Maybe the horse isn't dead yet. But you're sure beating it like it is.

My turn - how come cA doesn't have more cigar articles in its magazine. Isn't it "Cigar" Aficionado?

"Cigar" is its name, the Good Life is its game. Still, I like the magazine though I'm not a subscriber. More, I like the editors and they do quite a bit for the premium cigar industry followers. Especially James and David when out in the field.
