I know there have been many questions in the past and concerns as to having the Big Smoke here in Canada. I would like to start with my intent. I realize their have been questions with regard to holding such an event in Canada and the difficulties about the International border. First off, I would like to note I reside in Windsor just at the Detroit Border. I have access to a convention facility that fits up to 8000-10000, or so, capacity. I may have several influences with in the community to hold an event on a private setting. I also have relations with several brewery companies, restaurants, cigar retailers and other areas of interest. I would like to discuss the first International Big Smoke event to be held here in Canada. I realize there are different legislation's and regulations but I personally believe with the proper channels and influential people this event will rise. I would enjoy hearing your views on the matter and look forward to discussing the event at a later time. If there are avenues of interest you would like me to look in to I would be more than pleased to do so. Please feel free to contact me at anytime via email listed below.
Great idea, also it is only a 4 hour drive from Toronto one of the largest cities in Canada. Count me in and I know many other friends just in our little town of Stratford who would atttend. Attending a Big Smoke is on my bucket list. Come on CA editors give it some thought.
OK CA editors, there is obviously a huge interest within people traveling 500 or more miles or I should say KM, to get here and that's just from my article here. Also the fact you can smoke here in my Conference spot and the ticket sales would be for a private invite. Therefore, If this gala is held on my property and is also a private gala, then no problems so far with my end. Now we need to go over what issues we would have with Habanos SA and other Canadian politics and we will get it done. Viva la Big Smoke.

Come on CA people, i guess you must be looking in to it already and want to really figure out the Big Smoke Canada style. It will be a great success and as a SWAT guy said once, lets get it done. It gets me excited just planning it on my own; so many ideas.
Alright I did some checking around and of course that leads me to nowhere sometimes. In regard to the smoking Ban here in Ontario, the gray area is that you have to be outside and about 9 feet away from the building or attached awning or any over-hang attached to the building. That is for the general public. Now, Apparently if you have a function, maybe private or possible invite only then you are safe to enjoy cigars within the building. An event would have to be by way of invite and not open to the general public. Also there could not be any sales to the general public either, which there is not. Therefore you would have to have every person attending purchase a ticket; which is already being done. I think the only issue so far is bringing the cigars into the country from all the USA brands and from any other country. Also Cuban cigars are obviously under Habanos SA here and you can not have each vendor from each line of cigar have their own booth from Cuba. You may have to have Habanos on board and have invites or designated people at a table with certain cigars. I personally believe that the other cigars that may be brought in to the country would not be a problem, but it may take some coaxing and certain influential people to hold a function here. I will work on more detail and get more answers. If there is anyone that can assist with this and information, that would be greatly appreciated.
