Really, someone needs to fix the cigar ratings search engine. It consistently turns up multiple instances of the exact same review. This seems primarily a problem with 2007 reviews. (Try searching Ashton VSG from the brand name drop down menu with no other options selected). And the brand name drop down commonly misses reviews. (Try "Gurkha Legend" from the drop down, then compare that to a text search of "Gurkha Legend" with the "entire cigar name" option selected and note the additional hits.)

The repeated hits would be irritating by itself, but the real problem is that if you try to just add one of those reviews to your private humidor, the system adds them all, cluttering the humi. And if you delete one, it deletes them all.

I bought the insider membership mainly to have access to the reviews. It needs to work a lot better if I'm going to renew that membership.

I hate to say it, but the search feature plain sucks.

My big issue is that, if you search "Ashton" in the brand name field and "Magnum" in the search text, sometimes you miss some of the entries for Magnums but you also get tons of other sizes that are not named Magnum.

I just tried it and I got six pages of results, and only of few of the entries were Magnums:

The ratings glitches are being worked on now. Thanks for the feedback--I'll follow up here later this week with an update.

Extensioncord,

In my experience, the brand name and search text fields are an either/or kind of thing. To get what you want you have to type 'ashton magnum' in the search field, select 'entire cigar name' checkbox, then search.

It would be better if it could be done your way though.

The search engine is down again, for the gazillionth time. I do wish you'd make fixing this a priority.

Thanks, Steve, I'll give it a try. It's just not very intuitive the way it's set up. I hate to complain because after all, not very many people care enough about what a HdM Epicure #2 scored in 1995 so I appreciate the fact that CA offers a ratings archive...even if the actual interface is a little wonky.

We've fixed the problem of the duplicate ratings, and now we're taking care of a few other details that need attention. The ratings should be working much better now.

And Extensioncord, I'm glad you want to know what the Epi 2 scored in 1995. There's a lot of info in there...
