I’ve wanted to try the Legends Series from CI since I first saw them. I love the idea of a house brand that is made by 4 different manufacturers, with 4 completely different flavor profiles. I picked up a sampler from Cbid about 2 weeks ago, and thought I’d try my hand at writing my 1st review. Constructive criticism on my 1st review would be much appreciated!
CI Legends Green Label by Puros Indios 5.75” x 54 Ecuador grown CT shade wrapper Dominican and Honduran filler
Appearance and Construction (8 out of 15 points)
WOW, this is quite possibly the ugliest cigar I have ever seen. After retrieving it from the cooler, I quickly looked at the other Green Label I have to see what it looked like. Sure enough, it was ugly too! I love CT wrappers with their golden brown color that makes the cigar look like it’s draped in silk. I’ve always thought that Macanudos were some of the most beautiful cigars in the world. This wrapper however, was marred by a large vein that traveled the length of the wrapper. Several smaller veins combined with the many dark blotches on the wrapper could only remind me of my 80 year old grandma’s legs. Not the way to make a first impression
I would like to point out that the band is one of my favorites. I love the patriotic red white and blue, and the gold highlights really make it stand out. Just a personal preference though.
Flavor (21 out of 25 points)
This cigar is advertised as “an intensely flavorful smoke, but one that’s surprisingly mild in strength.” It started out mild-medium, and quickly mellowed to a very mild smoke throughout. The overall flavor reminded me of a toned down version of the regular PI natural. It was a very woodsy flavor with a slight hint of coffee. There was no bitterness or harshness at all, and this was a good cigar to start out the morning with my cup of coffee.
Smoking Characteristics (24 out of 25 points)
Despite this cigars rustic appearance, it was a pleasure to smoke. The first thing I noticed was solid construction. As big of an eyesore the wrapper was, there was no doubt this cigar was rolled masterfully. It had a very even burn, which continued until the very last puff. I found myself taking a long time to smoke this cigar due to the tons and tons of creamy smoke that hit my palate with every draw. This cigar was a very smooth cigar with no harshness to it, and was one of the most pleasurable smoking experiences of my life.
Overall (29 out of 35 points)
This was an interesting smoking experience. At first glance I was very disappointed, and did not look forward to the hour and a half or so I would spend smoking this cigar. However, after lighting and enjoying this cigar as a nice morning smoke with a cup of coffee, I would recommend it as a yard ‘gar or golfing stick. This would also be a great smoke to hand out to the moochers. Overall my opinion is a very mild cigar that is a pleasure to smoke, whose only detractor is that it is FUGLY.
Overall score 82

Great review, Seahawky! I've never tried anything from CI, never even heard of it, but I guess I'd like this one since my taster does. Great use of word pictures.

Nice job Seahawk. Wake me when you get to the camacho. That is the only one that really interests me. I am not holding my breath that they will be very good but maybe.

Yo J, I don't think the south produces anything Koren would be interested in, but maybe. Remember, this is the PNW, we're legendary.
Anyway, don't throw anything too hard, Koren can't catch.
LOL, pathetic poster children of the PNW. You can keep your fancy coffee, grunge music, and salmon flavored cigars. The ones from Cali taste better anyway. Actually, I hate this state. If not for the weather it would be a total waste.

Damn, I've been on a thread jacking kick today.
They weren't flavored when I was in college. They weren't cigars, either. Phillies Blunts were still in the recesses of someone's mind, if that.

Wow, sad but true. Every day while driving to work I seriously have to re-evaluate why it is I live here .

Southern Cal? You mean you spend time on the freeway???? I remember "planning" a sales trip to SoCal only to have the thing completely unravel b/c of the INSANE amount of hours I spent in and around LA on the freeway. I might as well have lived in my car. And you do some serious driving in Florida, but NOTHING comes close to that whole 405 and all the rest.
Now, I have a buddy who lives in San Clemente, and that is gorgeous...

I might as well continue the review-hijack..... I loved the scenery in California, especially along the coast (many memorable trips up & down 101)...Big Sur and the Monterey Bay area are heaven on earth (almost moved there at one point). Once you get away from the major metropolitan areas (L.A. Basin and the San Fransisco area especially), California has some of the most breathtaking scenery anywhere in the US.
Too bad the people are all insane ...
You guys on the Left Coast need to get out while you can.....but not down here...Florida is filling up too fast....used to be mainly retirees coming down here, but they didn't take up space for too long (God's Waiting Room)....now more younger folks are headed down to paradise. and it's getting crowded.....
Florida's new motto has become: "The land of the Newly-Wed and the Nearly-Dead"
...time to head further South....I always liked Australia.....

Just to keep the thread jacking going ... I live a 15 min. drive from the ocean and you're right Andy, these types of places are beautiful. The problem is if I could only find a way to stay home all the time.......
