Thanks to stogemiester for sending me this. It has been sitting in my humidor for several months and I was letting it settle for a while because the last one I had was plugged and didn't get a fair shake. This one more than made up for it.

appearance and construction - 13/15

This is a nice looking maduro with a very dark wrapper. There are some heavy veins in some areas but nothing outrageous. The band is classy but as usual they overglued it and it was difficult to remove. The fill is even and the construction looks good.

Flavor 22/25
Very cocoaey. This cigar started with a cedar and spice and finished with loads of cocoa. The lingering bitersweet finish is to-die-for. Just thinking about the flavor makes me salivate. At the halfway point it opened up big time and really knocked my socks off.

Smoking characteristics 18/25

Major deduction for an uneven burn. This stick tunneled on me big time. It burned straight through the side at about a half inch inch below the cherry but eventually straightened itself out.

Overall - 32/35

The flavor on this stick was excellent. The construction still pains me. I am not a big maduro smoker anymore but this is worth a try for anyone who likes a stout flavorful maduro like LGC serie R or padron.

overall 85

Thanks for the review! My favs right now are maduros and full bodied cigars. Nothing is worse than an uneven burn. I'll give them a try though.

good review pmp.

speaking of which, i started out a big maduro lover, but they, in general, just burn horribly. there are few that i can still enjoy (Padron, Avo, CAO).

I still have Quit a few let from the same box PMP, I'll send you another next go around. Im curious how these are gonna be after 6-7 months. Nice review and by the way I had that other Gran Habano #5 torp you sent me today and it was F#cking superb. Its a wonder what some humi time and settling will do for a cigar. Thanks man for the smoke.

Good review Pmpimbura Smile. I smoked one that Stoge sent me a few days ago (thanks agin Stoge Wink)and like you said it was VERY cocoaey and sweet. The one I smoked was the sweetest Maduro cigar I've ever smoked. Good construction, I'm personally not a fan of the purple band but, details. The one thing I have noticed about Padillas is all the one's I've smoked have had burn issues at some point during the smoke. I smoked 3 Hybrid Robustos in a row that tunneled on me like a MOFO. I lit one up last night that was much better but I can't really explain those 3 tunnels.

I still have the other that P sent me. I'm looking forward to smoking it soon, glad to hear they are rounding out.

As far as the Padilla Maduros, I didn't care for them the first couple go arounds. The construction problems plagued them badly, and I just didn't care for the flavors much. I have a couple more that will probably sit until I have forgotten about them for a while, then I'll give them another fair shot.

Yeah, I think personally the Padilla was too sweet for me. I'd deffinately say it was a god cigar, but just not one I'd buy a box of Wink.

I smoked one of these the other day while lounging in the local b&m. I'm not a big churchill fan but this was a very good cigar. The shop says they haven't been selling these very well and they've been sitting in the humi since last july, so they had age on them already. very nice cocoa and coffee flavors, decent burn, but light on the smoke. Unfortuantely the shop isn't going to reorder these anymore. Frown

I've tried to smoke maybe 4 or 5 Padilla maduros of different sizes and they have all been plugged or close to being plugged. So I was never able to get much more than burnt charr taste from them.

2 separate purchases from 2 different places. The high risk of unsmokeable sticks makes these not worth buying, to me a least.

I am afraid i must agree- padilla mads are just like perdomo- tempting blends that don`t burn. When you get a good one- they are great- and both brands are a beauty to look at- but when I take one out I always carry a backup.

The Maduros seem to need quit a bit of rest. I have found some inconsistencies with mine but find the longer I let them sit the better they get. After 6 months their just right. Wink
