This baby came from CSmithNj in R.A.T.S. IV. It's a 5.5" x 55 hefty smoke that looked fatter than it's stated ring gauge. It came in a silvery cello that had a Robb Report Best of the Best 2004 seal on it. I was a little skeptical of ol' Robb, but it looked promising and it has tempted me every day since I've had it. Tonight I finally lit 'er up.
As I slid it from the cello I noticed a medium veined wrapper with a flat chocolate finish. The foot was a little wrinkled and puckered, but otherwise well wrapped. It snipped very clean for a cigar of this size and showed a little rib vein at the head. The draw was very effortless, bordering on loose. The prelight puff was a bit musty with some ammonia, it reminded me of my own tobacco.
It took to flame very well producing a nice even light. It had a strong woodsy flavor with lots of spice from puff one. There was also a faint odor of pot, which was odd but not bad.
The middle thrid mellowed a bit with some harshness at the back of the throat, possibly ammonia related. Despite description of being medium, I thought it was very full flavored. the loose draw produced volumes of smoke on the pallet and with the spicy bite I'll actually admit to a short coughing spell when I accidentally inhaled some smoke. This is definitely not a cigar for wimps. It mellowed some more with wood smoked meat being the main flavor.
Ash was a little flakey but respectable. The draw, smoke and feel in the hand were due to some very good construction.
The last third had a deep roasted meat flavor, like a bit of roast beef that had browned a bit too much in the pot, but very hearty and pleasant. It still had a little bite, like red pepper flakes on the tongue. The big band popped off with ease, like a Post-it note, allowing me to nub this summabitch easily.
One word I rarely use to describe a cigar is "WOW" but it fit for this stocky smoke. The construction and flavor were really good. I thought it was better than a JdN, though a little less kick. If you want a full bodied smoke factory with rock solid construction perfect draw and mouthfuls of powerful, creamy smoke, pick one of these up! In fact, pick up several. I looked these up right away and for the price, this is one damn good smoke! A five pack should set you back about $40 online.
I'd like to thank Chris again for one fine smoke. I've always liked Perdomo La Tradicion, but this is the best I have ever had from them.
Is that the reserve cameroon? The rest of the la tradicion reserve line is good. I haven't had the cammy but the maduro, the natural, and the champagne are good.

This single line is bringing perdomo back in fashion. ITs too bad they have been plagued with so many construction problems. AS far as flavor profiles go, they have had a couple winners over the years.

Yeha it's the silver label, Cameroon. I fogot to mention that.
I've always liked Perdomo, especially the Reserve lines but shied away a few years back when they started introducing all the lines, Dos Rios, Counterfeit Cubans, etc. It felt like they were diluting their efforts and quality slipped. I think they are finally headed back the right direction, as the last few Maduro Reserves I've had have been excellent.

Nick is funny. I went to an event where he just kept asking everyone what they were smoking and then gave them one of his and said, "here have a real cigar."
I was smoking a Fuente Anejo and he kept egging me on to light up the Perdomo. I wandered around a bit and when I was done the Anejo I came back, lit up the Perdomo and talked with him a bit. He gave me a t-shirt that was too small for me, but I regifted it to a buddy.
This is one of Nick's favorite smokes around the office. Although he smokes everything from The Cigar to Silvio I usually see him with a Cammie Perdomo Reserve.

It was great to meet him at the Cigar Mania event.

Don't know if he would reverse engineer ' a well rolled cigar' since he does it the right way the first time, but if you want to send him a cigar, please feel free.
Puffingaway, I tend to do so. It's amazing what the veil of the internet will do to people's bravado. Perdomo is indeed heading into 2006 very strongly and I am more than proud to work for this company and support our products.
The Perdomo Reserve Cameroons have long been a favorite of mine, and I keep a box on hand at all times. I'm really warming up to the Maduro too, definitely a nice smoke.

Perdomo La Tradicion has always been a favorite of mine. I was very disappointed that they discontinued the Rosado wrappers. The Cuban Cafe is tasty, but I think they fall short of the Rosado.
