I decided to take a moment to post a note about this cigar. I have smoked half a dozen or so thus far and I have to say they were a pleasant surprise.
For those that are not sure what this is, it is a new brand from RyJ. It has a golden classic band that has large black lettering. The maduro wrapper is almost felt like with heavy oils. The cigar has a nice box press that reminds me of the rocky patel 1990-1992 box presses in mouth feel.
The cap is well made and holds nicely even with a healthy cut. Draw is perfect and the prelight flavor is earthy.
The cigar burns perfectly and with a salt/pepper ash that holds together well. The flavors have earth and wood notes with a little pepper on the finish. Overall, this is an excellent cigar that should score very well once it is reviewed (if it hasn't already). I would not be surprised to see a low 90's in CA.
I highly recommend this cigar, but keep in mind that it is not like other cigars in the RyJ line. It is mid-full in body, and packs a satisfying punch. Great for late day or full stomach smokes when time is not pressing.

Hey bamawrx, I would have to agree witih you on the Romeo Y Julietta Viejo. I was given this cigar in a "cigar of the month club" and really was impressed with the construction, smoke, and handsome appearance. I purchased two boxes since. Glad to see someone else has picked-up on this fine cigar too. ]

I believe these, along with the Monecristo Media Noche, are made exclusively for Cigars International. It will be interesting to see what happens with the relationship between the two now that Swedish Match will soon own CI.
I have samples of both (from Cigar Fest '07) and will have to give them a try. Montecristo is kind of bland across the board to me but the regular Romeo y Julieta line has always appealed to me as a nice, flavorful morning cigar. With a nice maduro wrapper...who knows?
I have actually heard these were good as well. I usually stay away from RYJ's as well, but I heard you can get them for cheap on Cbid.

Finally got to try this. Unfortunately, bad draw. I smoked it for an inch but my eyeballs started to hurt so I tossed it. Seemed like a pleasant enough maduro cigar -- nothing exceptional but certainly not bad.
