(5 x 50) Cameroon Wrapper. I thought it was on the light side of medium bodied, it had a nice draw to it the entire time, and it burned even throughout the smoke. The taste was amazing with a flavor that was smooth all the way to the ring label. Worth trying and a FAVORITE.

Did you notice you had word for word the same review for the Padron Anniversary Monarca Maduro?

Mike

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

at least he's consistent.

Never cared for the Don Carlos line. The flavor just has a certain "something" that I just don't like.

While the Don Carlos I tried was smooth, it was very much lacking something...I enjoy a stronger & spicier smoke like the Camacho SLR or Corojo and the occaisional Cohiba when luck strikes me just right.

I feel that the Fuente's are mostly overrated, although I still have to try the Anejo's and Opus X before I write them off completely. Thanks for the review.

I feel the same way. The Hemingways are good but still not worth their price to me.

Mike,

They were both outstanding with about the same characteristics in their construction.

I recently introduced a friend to the Don Carlos line. He had a mixed reation to their flavor, citing a chocolate flavor with a bite of aluminum at the end. I've never tasted these two flavors, especially aluminum, but he is the second person I know to claim a metallic flavor. Anyone else heard of this?

Just smoked my first Don Carlos, a Belicoso and i really enjoyed it. Great flavor, not that i can pinpoint what flavors i was tasting, im horrible at that. I didnt think the ash was ever gonna fall off, but it did around 2 inches. I would probably buy some more of these, but definately for an every once in a while smoke, a bit pricey for me.

I've had one. I'll never have another one unless it's gifted. Tasty, but geez, they price these higher than the FFOX at my local.

Peace.

Wow, how much are they going for? I got the Belicoso for $8.50 i believe, and the FFOX are $30 at that same shop.

They're shipping now to Illinois...Missouri should be next. I don't smoke 'em, I just horde them for trade bait since I purchase them for msrp. No biggie her in the Lou as the best shop in town is run by a class act. I get Anejos for MSRP, BTL's.. the whole nine yards. I am limited to 4 Anejos per visit when he has them and usually 6 FFOX. I think 2 on the BTL's.

Peace.

Timing's a funny thing. I just finished a Fuente Don Carlos Double Robusto five minutes ago, then signed on the forum to see what people were talking about these days.

It was a pleasure. The oft-used descriptive phrase "draws like a dream" is absolutely appropriate here and the burn was as close to a perfect circle as I've seen in a long time. The smoke was creamy rich, a little past medium on the way to full-bodied, and the flavor to me was sort of like if you spilled coffee on old an leather jacket. It evolved as I smoked it shorter, a phenomenon I always enjoy.

Put this one down as one of my favorites.
