Appearance: 8/10 Good looking cigar in terms of cap and wrapper. The foot was cut unevenly.
Burn/Draw: 9/10 The burn and draw were both good. It was slightly tighter than I prefer on the draw, but not to the point where it impeded on my enjoyment of the cigar.
Taste: 8/10 What a great blast of pure Partagas strength and pleasant flavor right off the bat! There's a spicy undertone for the first third as the Cuban taste was in abundance. It reminded me of the PSD4. Towards the middle, the taste of cedar started to build consistently with a hint of leather. At the peak, there was just an amazing conglomeration of aromatic wood unlike any that I've ever tasted in another cigar. As the end neared, it calmed down slightly to a nice soothing finish. This cigar had a distinct beginning, middle and end.
Overall: 9/10 I don't normally like wood-tasting cigars as much as creamy ones, but the 898 flavor profile is something that everyone can enjoy. I love the size as it is not too girthy so you don't need to worry about the burn and just enjoy the flavors of the cigar.
That is a great review, thanks for pointing me to it from the other forum.
::drool:: I've never tried a Partagas...perhaps this is a good place to start...
