A patient who told me he was the importer brought in a Dona Flor Robusto. I let it sit in my humidor for a few weeks before smoking it.

I smoked that Dona Flor Robusto last night and was surprised by the flavor. It was not a bad smoke.

Not an Opus X, but I noticed nuances of spice and fruit. Not a strong cigar, more of a midrange smoke.

I think I'll look up the guy who brought it in and hit him up for a box.

I've been avoiding these because they're anall-Brazilian tobacco blend, which is pretty unusual. Thanks for the review -- I may give them a shot now.

DONA FLOR SELEÇÃO ROBUSTO is the Cigar of the Week for CA. The flavor profile sounds like it would suit me. Now all I have to do is find one to try.

I met one of the sales people, guy by the name of Dana, at Davidoff's on Madison when they were doing their tasting event. I'd never heard of them, but picked up a few for $6 and lit one in the store. I was suprised at how good it was.

I've been trying to get more, but I can't find a retailer. I've been emailing the company and they confirmed that they don't have a retailer on Long Island. I'd like to keep a supply of them on hand. They're not the best cigar I've ever smoked, but they're one of the best in the $6 range. It could easily sell for a couple dollars more if they wanted to.

Mom: "Twenty dollars for a cigar?!?! Why don't you just set fire to a $20 bill?"

Response: "Get a $20 bill to taste like a Davidoff and I'll light my entire paycheck on fire!"

Doc, was that the maduro or natural?
I did smoke a Dona flor double corona this year in a local big smoke event. My notes say it looked pretty nice, burnt even, draw was good, and tasted alright - but wished taste was a little better.

Mine was maduro. And like I said, it was good, but I felt it needed more a little more taste and flavor.

On that same event Garo was personally presenting his cigars. The Garo Habano Maduro line uses Brasilian wrapper, as Dona Flor (though in Dona Flor maduro's filler and binder are also Brasilian). Garos were a lot better, actually they were excellent maduros.

I just had a Dona Flor although they were called Alfonzo Menendez? They said they would be changing they name or labels in the next run. I really didn't plan to have any that day but I was really impressed. The rep set me up with two or three greebies that I now have in the humidor. I look forward to another one soon.

We do carry them, but they are on back order for another several weeks on the manufacturer's end. Seems being mentioned in CA increased their demand so much they couldn't keep up!

Alonso Menedez is a different line they carry. Refer to their webpage at cigarsofbrazil.com
