Appearance and construction 12/15 Nice looking stick with a slightly tight draw. There were green spots all over the place. The wrapper wasn't nearly as delicate as many of the cubans I have had.
Flavor 24/25 Awesome flavor. I would put it right up there with my top 2 the bbf and the hdm epi 2. I don't have the ability yet to dissect the flavors of a cigar this complex. But I did notice that there was a bit of sweetness, some definite woodsy hints and a nice bit of spice as well. The cigar was moderately complex, very rich, and very satisfying. It was definitely in the medium to full category in terms of strength and flavor.
Smoking characteristics 23/25 No major problems here. The ash was tight and compact. The draw was a little tight too but it made for a nice slow cool smoke. The construction was better than many ccs I have had but not best I have seen overall.
Overall 33/35 Incredible smoke. I smoked a lot of good stuff this week but this quickly rocketed past most of them to my top 5.
Total 92

Good review PMP, its a cigar I've been long curious about and avoided a bit because other smokers say it has alot of construction issues(tight draw). I guess Im going to have to find out for myself.

I got one for ya stogie. Gimme a bit to get things settled over here and I'll shoot one your way. I think you will definitely dig these. BTW, that choix you sent was excellent even with no settling time. It was more cocoaey than the last couple I have had. Check your email in a little bit.

Pmp, I smoked three recently which were my first three Punch Punch ever. I found it intetesting that a number of folks mentioned the construction issues while I had the opposite experience - construction was flawless and and the draw was perfect. I'm guessing I just got luckly. I had ordered only these 3 sticks to sample the vitola. So, I don't have a box code to help with the assessment.
Overall, I liked the Punch Punch but it is not at the top of my CC list. It seems a litte more "flat" or "not complex" as some of others I've had. But what was strange is that the 3rd one I smoked was much better than the first two. So, maybe I was just warming up to the Punch Punch profile and really got into it by the 3rd one. I did smoke them on three consecutive nights.

My problem with Punch is the same problem I have with RA and MC...sometimes you smoke one and it just tastes flat. Not even just not up to par, but just plain flat. Even years in the humi (well past any sick period) don't seem to prevent that occasional flat stick. Still though, an excellent smoke when they are on.
Along with the Bolivars, these are some of the best cigars coming out of Cuba right now as far as taste. The one's I've smoked lately have had no draw problems and have tasted fantastic. I have a box of these coming as I write this...and I'll probably smoke these before my Montes...

My absolute go to for cubans...The only problems I've ever had was a tight draw. WOnderful cigar.

People aren't smoking cigars to be trendy, cool or stylish. They're smoking cigars because they like them. Because they enjoy the experience. Because for about $5 they can spend an hour sampling one of life's greatest luxuries. -David Savona

I still have half a box of these that followed me home from Puerto Vallarta on my honeymoon in 2000. I've been hoarding ever since. Good, but pricey smoke.

Great review and I agree 100%. I love Punch Punch cigars when I can get them.

i never thought i would be saying this.... but i agree with sobek, however i never let one sit longer than a year. im not the most patient collector. but when they are on, they are great.
I picked up a box of these a few months ago and the first 2 have been great, a little young but great for out of the box. After reading this I think I'll let them sit at least few more months before I really dig into them.
