Busy at work today… This line was eagerly anticipated by… me! LFD has the Double Ligero; but can anyone handle a Triple Ligero???? Is it possible? Will my brain explode? Find out!
CI description: “Triple Ligero is a gorgeous new release by K. Hansotia. It employs an intoxicating blend of aged ligero wrapped inside a dark, toothy Brazilian maduro wrapper. The result is a powerful, après-dinner cigar that begins with an explosion of spice and gradually fades in a smooth, chocolatey richness, complemented by a distinct woody character. Complex, robust and extremely well-made. The Triple Ligero is the ultimate marriage of power and balance.”
K. Hansotia Triple Ligero X3 (6.1 x 52)
Appearance and construction (12/15)
Kinda ugly, but it is a maduro. Veiny, the wrapper looks half an inch thick (not really). Looked strong and powerful. Nice gold and black band (No, EP, not too “gay-looking”) also en cedros. Clipped it and took a pre-light draw. Pulled tons of air in… uh-oh.
Flava’ (21/25)
The X3 was not quite what I expected. I expected a full-bodied powerhouse like a LFD DL Chisel or something. The flavors were somewhat muted and all I got was earth and some bittersweet chocolate. A little coffee bean in the last third. The flavors were flat.
Smoking characteristics (22/25)
Easy pre-light draw = easy draw and fast burn. It must be all the ligero, because this was the fastest smoking cigar I have ever puffed on. Lots of smoke though, and even the draw was easy, it never got too hot. Good even burn, no relights necessary.
Overall (31/35)
I really wanted to like this, but it was disappointing to me. I do want to age the rest and see if there is any improvement. This cigar DID NOT knock me on my ass. Mild-medium body, full strength but not overwhelmingly so. Bear in mind I smoke 2 cigars a day and I might not be easily overpowered. Try a Symphony if you want to try a KH. Try this if you have tried the rest. Not great, but not horrible.
Love reading your reviews. Especially when it is of something I have recently tried. Nice to know that my palate is quite similar to that of someone who appears to be such a respected reviewer on this Forum. Keep up the good work! That said, I too was looking forward to this stick and now doubt I will drop the coin on it.

My pleasure. I have a few La Aurora hand-rolled that were just rolled like 2 weeks ago. Maybe I'll send one to ya to see what you think. Basically I'd again just like to see if we tasted the same thigns. I just haven't had the balls/inclination to post a review yet.
