Just Updated 12/8 - pmpimbura added his terrific review of the 6K Natural below (I am not worthy)
...thanks pmp ~ Enjoy Smile

Padron 6000 Maduro Torpedo (5.5X52)
I probably smoke more Padron Fumas than any other cigar (at least one a day), so I’m probably a bit biased to their smokes. This is the first 6k Padron I’ve tried.

APPEARANCE AND CONSTRUCTION:
Just about perfect construction, very small veins, darker than most Padrons, almost an Oscuro. Firm fill and slight box press, smooth wrapper. Like all Padrons, free and easy draw, unlit flavors of cinnamon and leather. A beautifully made cigar.

FLAVOR:
In a word: Phenomenal. I would have to say, this was probably one of the best cigars I’ve ever had - it fits the flavor profile that I personally enjoy - but your mileage may vary.
After the first ¼ inch or so, it started to deliver a smooth, creamy, vanilla soda flavor that held throughout the entire smoke. Every draw had a characteristic nutty sweetness that was never overpowering, with touches of cinnamon and cocoa now and then. Near the end, gave a nice sweet leathery finish. About halfway through, started getting a nice nicotine buzz and a bit of spice now and then, but the creamy smooth sweetness was always there.

SMOKING CHARACTERISTICS:
Burned perfectly, razor sharp all the way down, nice firm salt and pepper ash held for 1 ½ - two inches without any flaking whatsoever. It never burned hot, even down to the very end.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS:
Absolutely a must try. If you like the Padron flavor profile, this will knock your socks off. I smoked this one right away, but I don’t see how it could improve much in the box. I’m going down to the store tomorrow and pick up a couple of boxes to see if I can hold off smoking all of them long enough to let them age a bit….but if they are anywhere near as good as this one, I think it will be a lost cause. I actually had to do the old “Freddie the Freeloader” bit with this one (stuck a wooden toothpick in the head to be able to get a few more puffs without burning my fingers), and regretted having to finally put it down. Even the last puffs were wonderful. I wish I had another one right now!

A definite favorite.

Cool

Nice review, thanks. I saw these at the store the other day and passed because of price. Now I guess I'll have to go back and get a few, just to try.

Thanks for the review - I have not had one yet. Will have to correct that as soon as possible.

i've smoked several of these, and while the taste is perfect, i've had burn issues and draw issues with 2 or 3 so far. they were stored perfectly in a private humidor inside the stores walk-in, so i don't think that was the issue. i've never really had any problems with padrons in the past so maybe this was just a bad box. i did notice they burned better after i opened up the cut larger than i normally do for a torpedo. i like the cigar enough to not give up very quickly... Good review, makes me wanna go smoke one right now! The Padron 3k & 6K Maduros are my two favorite cigars right now. I go to light up something else but I just can't pass up the Padrons.

This review is for the Padron 6000 natural.

Appearance and construction 13/15
This is a nice pointy torpedo with a uniform milk chocolate wrapper and a slight box press. The 6000 is better than most padrons in the looks department. I always find their wrappers to look a bit rough around the edges but this one is a bit nicer. It looks more refined. The fill is perfect all the way.

Flavor 20/25
This cigar tasted very earthy with hints of bittersweet cocoa and pepper. The finish was short and one dimensional until around the halfway point where it opened up. From the halfway point to the nub it was creamy and rich with a subtle sweetness. This cigar has a pure flavor. It is simple and straighforward. It doesn't grab your attention with sweetness and spice the way a padron maduro will but it does a good job of exposing the natural flavor of nicaraguan tobacco. This should be a favorite for a seasoned smoker and fan of nicaraguan flavors.

Smoking characteristics 23/25
The strength is medium - full with a nice balance on the good half. The burn was perfectly straight all the way down. The ash was compact and held on tightly for at least 2 inches. The draw was a little laborious at times but still produced a lot of smoke. I couldn't make this thing burn hot no matter how fast I smoked it. Padron quality was never more apparent than in the 6000.

Overall 31/35
I think this cigar was faulted a bit for being young but even in its youth it is a cigar I can understand. Lately I am finding a lot of my favorite cigars, maduros especially, a bit on the sweet side. This cigar is pure tobacco flavor without the sugary window dressing. I'll still save the PAM's, VSG's, and CC's for special occasions but the next time I want to relax after a bad day at work and I want something solid, pure, and honest this would rank high on the list.

Total 87

great reviews guys. I love seeing back to back comparisons of naturals and maduros of the same cigars. I think I will be getting a box of these in the maduro. Thanks guys!

They are very good in the Maduro Eddie! A nice peppery, cocoa, and woody profile with good complexity. Wink

When the Maduros first came out I really, really liked them. Then after a while, for the price, they just weren't holding my attention. I guess since they're half again as much as the 3K's I just couldn't do it. Well, I smoked four of them while I was in Vegas this last weekend and now I feel like I've been missing something all this time I wasn't smoking them. Two of them I smoked weren't out of my humidor but even without age, they were still a damn fine smoke and now I think I'm gonna have to spring for a box of them.
