Size: 5x40, Corona (Not counting handy plastic tip)

Wrapper: Blunt

Filler: Doesn't matter, the smoker removed it

Strength: Medium-Full (Weed)

Price: Box of 5, $4.99; 5-pack,

Grade: 8.8

Ted over at 7-11 recently sent us a couple of the Black n' MIld sticks in the Corona size. This blend is only sold as a corona and is hand-made in Panama. Often grown with a bit of volcanic soil, cigars from Panama can carry some unique flavors. Though many cigars are produced in this region, less are actually shipped from Panama, which 7-11 lists as one of the unique features of the Black n' Mild.

The Black N' Mild rested in our storefront for a couple months and we’ve been itching to give it a shot.

This review comes from our close friend Jamal; He and his wife just celebrated the birth of their first child, a healthy little boy named Chris! Everyone welcome Chris, and congratulate him on the new addition!

Appearance 1.8:
The appearance on this stick is beautiful—a reddish brown Blunt wrapper that is very smooth and oily, the Black N' Mild makes a great first impression. There are minimal veins and no soft spots—very well constructed. The pre-light draw is solid with notes of cardboard.

Burn, 1.5:
By far the biggest deduction, the burn on stick struggled from the beginning. The “v” shaped burned only worsened as the smoke progressed. Though the ash was consistently colored and held well, the crooked burn required several touch-ups to correct. On the positive side, the draw on the Black n' Mild was nearly perfect and never burned hot. The smoke emitted had a very sweet and enjoyable aroma and thick clouds were produced throughout. Had the burn been straighter, this stick would have scored around a 1.8 on burn, soaring it to a 9.1 overall grade. So, if burn issues don’t bother you, this is a high scorer!

Flavor, 2.8:
The Black N' Mild transitioned exceptionally well; beginning with strong notes of pepper, by the second third the stick had mellowed out into a very sweet and smooth tasting cigar. The sweetness was complemented by a leathery taste that was very enjoyable to the palette. Great complexity, consistency, and flavor, the Black N' Mild is a winner in the flavor category. There was also some noticeable body to this medium-full stick, which made the experience nice and relaxing.

Overall, 2.7:
At just under $.80 a stick, I’d say this is a solid value. In fact, I would consider buying a box of these at the current price point of $4.99 for a 5-pack. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this cigar, even with the burn issues. The great flavor profile and beautiful appearance prevented me from being totally distracted by the required touch-ups. As I said earlier, had the burn on this stick been better, we’d be looking at a score into the low 9s. Thanks to 7/11 for providing this excellent House Blend. Our reviewer did have a terrible case of the munchies after finishing this stick, nothing the stale donuts at the front counter along with some Funyuns couldn't fix.

(Total: 8.8)

It's nice to know that you are now taking time off from writing boring political posts to outright picking on people who are just here to review cigars that they enjoy. I realize that you love to argue and you love to get into it with people but usually there is a reason and thats ok i guess, but to just single out and rip on someone for putting some reviews in the " cigar reviews " section is just lame, even for you.

Hey Lilo, it's nice to know that you took time out of your day to post in my thread. There have been more than a few posts lately about certain posters trying to self-promote their own blogs.

Besides, this was done as a joke, sort of like the thirty parodies of Smokin' & Soakin'. If you aren't smart enough to see that, well, I'm not surprised.

Ah, it'll be all right. It's not a girl fight where they hate each other forever.

Nice magnanimous response MJM. If Presley doesn't take you up on it, I'd be happy to do a guest review sometime.

After awhile we'll all rope a smoke and soak and joke and hopefully not poke and forget all about it.

bpierson, you're the man! I was over it before it began, no worries here.

Love to have you write a guest review--whatever you want, just check and see if we've reviewed it before and try and follow our general format. Email me whenever...

I thought it was hilarious, but then again, I'm a dick.

In all seriousness, I'd like to thank MJM for his contributions to the forum. Until he started posting, I actually thought there were bad cigars out there. Now I realize that they are all -- every one of them -- good. And solid values.

Until I joined this forum, and started reading your posts, I actually thought there were good cigars out there. Now I realize that they all suck.

I just went back and re-read the OP. You're right, it is pretty funny...

Hey Presely,

I noticed you had problems with the burn on the 7-11 special. One trick learned to me bi my pappy, was to dip the cheap little basturds (CLB) in gasoline. That way they never go out. Also adds an interesting diesel fuel taste to the CLB. Oh, and be sure to NOT to dip a lit CLB in the gas can.

Whooeee! Did that once. Never agin. Lit them after you dip.

Cor: Steve, you have proven yourself to be a tremendous whack job.

I agree, the OP was funny, that's why I linked to it from my thread.

And, believe it or not, I've come across some cigars that I thought were bad, specifically the Panacea Black, Zino Classic, and Davidoff 702. Most of what I choose to smoke ends up being middle of the road because I read up on sticks before I purchase them. These days, w/ a 13 month old and a wife that stays home, value is important to me so it is always factored into my reviews.

This was my point, some people get angry that I posted this but I was just saying that it seems MJM has never had a cigar he did not like.

Not sure I can defend that really, about not having a bad smoke.

I've had some really bad ones, some really good ones, but mostly I end up smoking middle of the road, $5-6 cigars that I've heard mostly positive things about from other BOTL's. The other guy I review with takes more financial chances with his smokes and will fire up whatever, but I'm more picky since I only smoke about once or twice a week on a pretty limited budget.

Hey, I'm just bustin' your balls man. Lilo and mbFlash just got irritated because they are tired from playing 'hide the drac' last night.

hey MJM, way to be mature about this, thanks for taking this with a light heart and not start a whole new bashing thread. I did think that Presley's post was funny, mean spirited but funny. I'd love to send you a couple of reviews as well.
