Probably been reviewed 1,000 times but anyway...Lit it up exactly one week after receiving the shipment, probably a little too early but had to try one...I love the size in general, great for times that I don't want to be a marathon smoke session...Excellent construction, wonderful aroma...Sucked on the cap a bit before cutting to make it a bit easier and to get a sense of the flavor(nutty, spices) Straight cut, roasted the head a bit...couple of breaths on the cherry and off we go...First third of any cigar is a favorite and this doesn't disappoint..Little hints of roasted nuts, earthy woodiness, literally a PERFECTLY even burn to about half where dark grey ash falls...Second half it takes off with the spices, and warm herbs and a tiny split began to occur at about 2 inches to go...probably from sparking it too early?? Took it down to about an inch and a quarter and let it die...Took an hour flat overall with no rush which was perfect for me! Not as strong as I've read about and been told it was (thought the cohiba siglo II was a bit stronger) All in all, very very well made stick with great aroma flavor and a sensational value...highly recommend for the price! (didn't mean to write a novel here Smile )

Not at all- every cigar is different. I too find them a little less full-bodied than most other Montes. Gets a bad rap from Suckilng but i'm a big fan.

I love 'em. One of my staples. Although, I have been gravitating towards the #3's of late.

I'm smoking my early 2000's stock of Monte 4's at the moment. I cant wait for them to run out as I really dont like them all that much.

My girlfriend thinks it's placebo and that I have grown a more extravagant (expensive) taste because of all the premiums and super premiums I have been smoking recently... but I disagree... I just dont dig em all that much anymore.

You should put them up for trade. I'm sure someone would be willing to trade with you.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion littoines.

I'd definitely do it but the only problem is that I don't live anywhere near North America and postage will cost more than the smokes are worth.

I'll just keep em for those days where I'm desperate for a smoke and dont think I have the time to finish it... or not in a mood to appreciate a better one.

Montecristo #4

If you are going to start smoking Cubans, chances are that it will be through the Montecristo #4
Offers reliability, excellent construccion and an interesting balance of power and flavor
Earth and wood dominates this easy smoke. Ideal for beginners that s why, recommend it to my brother and to get them as I do with mines at Solocigars.com Big Grin Wink

I am posting this to advise that last night I had a humbling experience with a Monte 4, and I must retract my previous negative statements about this cigar.

As much as I have been disappointed with this cigar in the past... last night I had an absolutely stellar one!
Amazing construction and perfect draw. Beautiful and smooth woody/chocolate flavours with amazing consistency right to the band.

I look forward to my remaining aged half box. I can only hope that it doesn't let me down.
