This morning I had some time to relax and decided to enjoy one of my two DPG Cuban Classic 1952's, also known as the Perla. I decided that since it was such a nice morning I would make a nice strong cup of coffee and sit out in the sun. That proved to be good, and bad. Pre-light: The color reminds me of a nice deep mild chocolate, few very small veins are present. Construction looks to be very well. Toasted the foot before cutting and then lit it with my torch. First few draws showed that this little stick had a very good draw and a ton of character. The start was a nice creamy white smoke with a ton of pepper and spice. I like that and felt that the flavor was going to be very close to the larger beli I'd smoked a few weeks ago. First third did not disappoint. The second third mellowed out a little with the spice and pepper but continued to have a great flavor. To me it tasted of coffee and chocolate. It was a perfect combination with my coffee. Towards the end of this third I was starting to think that maybe I should have eaten something and not have decided to sit in the sun. LOL. Kept going though as I was enjoying this smoke so much I didn't want to stop. The last third the flavor got a little stronger, but not a harshness as with some other cigars. This last third really let the nicotine kick in and I started to sweat and feel lightheaded. I smoked it down to the nub and polished off my coffee before retreating inside to sit down and relax. Overall, this cigar didn't disappoint one bit! For being a smaller 4 1/2"x42 cigar it lasted a hour! The burn was very good, no issues at all. No draw issues either. I'd rate this little smoke at an 90. Well worth a try if you like the Cuban Classic line.

Thanks KKL, it was my first review. Haven't tried one of the robusto's just yet. I have four sitting in my humi. I've had the beli which is the same length and ring gauge. That smoke blew me away with the different flavors, draw, construction. When I bought them I also purchased the Padilla 68's and Habanos. I thought the Padilla's smelled great and would be a little better than the DPG. I found out that I love the DPG even more though. Let me know what your thoughts are on the robusto! Good luck and enjoy!
