Thanks Andy for the opportunity to review this cigar.

Appearance and construction 13/15
Better than average appearance and construction. The wrapper is uniformly dark. There are no underfilled spots or plugs. The clip and draw are good. The prelight aroma is chocolately. There are a couple small veins but nothing crazy. The size is cool. Its like a robusto corto with a torpedo tip.

Flavor 21/25
Excellent little smoke. The flavors were solid from beginning to end. This one reminds me of espresso and cream with a hint of sweet spice. I also got the occasional floral and "soapy" tones too. But to clarify, the "soapy" flavor is just an abundance of strong cedar. It isn't really soap. I like the flavor of this a lot.

Smoking characteristics 21/25
Burn was a little off but nothing major. The ash was decent. The strength was perfectly balanced to the flavor.

Overall 32/35
I like this cigar. I would definitely smoke this again for the right price. I like the unique shape too. The cedar might throw some people at first. It is a bit overwhelming but once you get used to it its pretty good.

Overall 87

Nice review PMP - you must be feeling better??

Have not tried one of these. It has been add to the must try list. Sounds like the kind of cigar I need during the cold months for smoking on the front porch.

Nice review P !....Andy sent me one of these earlier this week (along with a couple of other "Goodies" ..Thanks Andy - your generosity overwhelms me).

Looking forward to trying it...just letting them rest for a few days.

got my box in yesterday and lit one up tonight as I'm unpacking from Orlando. Very nice, tasty smoke. Scored two boxes at a very good price and the cedar taste is very good...love it

Man I really must have come across a bum stick. This thing was horrible. The draw was so tight I finally gave up half way through, as I was blue in the face. I had to fight for each tiny little puff of smoke. On top of that it had a strong soapy taste sort of like moisturizing soap (like Dove but w/o the scent). I will try it again, but what a horrible first impression...

dd, that's exactly the taste I got. It wasn't cedar either, that's for sure. Blue, you bought a couple boxes, let us know how consistent the box is. It seems we have two categories, great and soapy.

I don't think it's really soap, but I'm sure it wasn't cedar. Just wait until you get one of the soap bombs PMP, you'll see Big Grin. It's a very bad flavor and unmistakabley recognizable.

Well, so far I've smoked about eight of these, four from one box, anf four from the other, and have not had a soap taste in any one of them. So far the burns have been consistent and the taste has been what I expected it to be, not a flat soapy one in the bunch yet.

From what I understand Pres. all the NC Fonsecas are Villazon..and tell ya what..the more these little baby's sit in the humidor..the richer flavor they get. This is definitely my favorite Fonseca smoke, and an everyday go to for a 20 minute smoke
