I’ve never done a review, but since it’s Independence Day weekend, I figured what the heck. I went looking for a smoke worthy of such a fine holiday and this one caught my eye. It was a gift from a customer of mine who had it sitting in his humi for a while so I thought it would be perfect. I went out to the courtyard in front of my house with a glass of some fine tequila (Corralejo Reposado). 98 degrees and absolutely no wind at all.
Appearance and Construction (13/15)
From the moment I saw it sitting in the box looking all dark and oily, I could only think how beautiful it was and how near perfect it appeared. Very nice smell, too.
Flavor (24/25)
Fired up like the dream I imagined it would…the first draw was very smooth and creamy with some chocolate hints. The first third was very sweet with some wood tastes, very pleasant. The farther I smoked, the better it got. The flavors got stronger and it became very creamy with some spices I can’t determine, but very nice. It was extremely smooth with a long finish. I was torn between wanting to savor the last puff and the smoke that lay around me to wanting to take another puff to experience the fresh taste again. Toward the end, I detected some coffee taste that really helped blow my mind. There was lots of flavor right to the very end.
Smoking Characteristics (24/25)
Lit up perfectly after toasting the foot and burned near perfect all the way. The ashes stayed very firm and intact for over 1.5 inches. Lots of thick, white smoke on every mouthful. The smell of the smoke was fantastic with no wind and I got to experience this cigar to the fullest.
Overall Impressions (32/35)
The first one of these I’ve smoked, but it won’t be the last. It was definitely one of the best I’ve smoked so far. This cigar is very full of flavor and easy to smoke. A real treat and a feather in the cap of the Padron Family of fine cigars.
Score 93/100

93 is not a problem score for an individual. We all have our own scales. To match a CA review there must be high and low scores in the ave.Its not like the group all writes the same score. I have seldom rated many over 92- but then again we have members that seldom rate anything other than their faves higher than 88.The only problem with a high rating is that if you find something else you like better, you get into silly high numbers.
Great review for a great cigar.....try some of the other Padrons, just about all of them are exceptional smokes......and if you liked the 5K, the PAMs and PANs will knock your socks into the next county......

Nice work! Syrinx made a very good point about it being an individual review. It's deffinately hard to subjectively rate a cigar. I did a review of an H.Upmann Vintage Cameroon a long time ago that I'm sure some would say is too high (ok, hell even I'll admit it probably was ) but I enjoy them so it does make it hard to say it's only an "OK" cigar. Anyway, nice work. I'm a huge Padron fan, I think the 6000 Maduro has become my favorite in the "K Series". Give those a shot somdeay. Deffinately try some 1964 Anniversary Padrons if you get a chance. My favorites are the Torpedo and the Imperial FWIW.

Very nice review. I think these cigars could easily rate a 90+ on many peoples scale, especially if you are talking about non-cubans only. They are some of the best tasting most consistent cigars on the market.
