One of the most visually appealing cigars I have ever seen. The wrapper is a deep rich brown with a nice oily sheen to it. The cigars come naked which I love. There is nothing to detract from the beauty of this wrapper. The shape is odd. IMO this is more of a cross between a torpedo and a belicoso. It is nice and feels comfortable when smoking.

Flavor 22/25
Started out woodsy and a little harsh. I felt the strength almost immediately. The flavors built into a full bodied flavorful buttery smoke with hints of espresso, spice, and wood.

Smoking characteristics 23/25
Burn was mostly even. The draw was perfect with a very small clip. The ash was a little weak. The most noteworthy thing here is the power. This one would probably best be enjoyed after a nice meal. Definitely not suitable for a noob or as a moocher cigar, unless you want to mess with em. Wink

Overall 31/35
This is a pretty solid smoke both flavorwise and strengthwise. It was good now and I bet it would benefit greatly from some age. Either way its a real bargain at around 5 bucks each. I like it better than the sungrown which is a little more cedary and slightly more 1 dimensional.

This is a great full bodied smoke, though I do prefer the Maduro's in the edge a little more. I like the RP Sungrown torpedos though, they seem to have a flavor all their own which is quite different than the Montesinos and Fuentes.

Great Review PM....these are fine smokes, and like you said, not for a noob or a moocher, unless they like their head spinning.

Great review. Just got my hands on an Edge Maduro Torpedo (thanks James). Maybe I'll smoke it this weekend and post a review. But on the other hand, your review has got me wanting to go out and buy an Edge Natural and try it out first.

BMOC - Just smoke it man. These aren't like opus or anything. It probably won't blow your mind, it certainly didn't blow mine. But for 5 bucks it can certainly hold it own.

Thanks for the advice. Enjoying the fuller bodied smokes these days.

Nice review. These certainly interest me, I'm gonna have to go pick one up.

I love good cheapie smokes. My buddy's been herfin' the Edge lately. My local shop has these and I've been reluctant to try. Maybe I will now.

Thanks for the great review and positive contribution to the board Pmp! You da man! Wink

Glad to hear you liked it that much P! I made a big score of these with that cheapercigar sales. I got 4 boxes of the Corojo Torps (40 cigars in all for 100 bucks. I think I'll take a box or two and let them sit for a long time, then smoke the rest now. Big Grin

Did you get any maduros? I am going to have to pick up some maduros to review next time I am at my local. I think I'll stick to camachos for my corojo fix but these are very nice for the price.

I have tried the "edge" in both the maduro and natural. While I didn't enjoy the natural, it may have been because it was fresh out of the box "Fed Ex" that is. They didn't even have a chance to settle. Now, the maduro torpedo, belicoso, pyramid, whatever you want to call it, great cigar! One of the finest wrappers around. Very oily, smooth and very few veins. This cigar was great from start to finish. This would be a great cigar for $7-8. If you have ever had the Pinar Solomones, this tastes very much like it. Almost as if I had a chocolate bar in my mouth (and I am not one of those people who tastes a hint of coffee or finds leathery notes)

Just had one compliments of Stogie...Nice smoke for 5 beans. I had it on an empty stomache and didn't find it over powering but I did spend an hour with it.

I was hit with some interesting flavors. It smoked a bit dry but not in a bad way.

Thanks Stogie. I thought this was an MC2 when I first got it. Excact same size and color but the wrapper appeared a bit thicker. Still, great construction and a solid smoke. This fits my taste profile much better than the 1990.

Peace.

I'm glad you liked it El_Prez. Your freaking spot on about the dryness in the smoke, they do fit the bill for a tasty medium-full smoke. Did I send you more than one?

my local b&m has these. What's with Rocky and the odd size boxes? Marketing genius or pain in the ass?

Peace.

I just had a Padron 6k natural compliments of Andy. Good smoke and I prefer the natural wrapper over the maduro in the k series....but that Edge was every bit the 6k's equal, and that's not a put down of the 6k, although I feel this line will improve with age.

Peace.

The Edge Maduro Torps are a very fine smoke to me, very full bodied and very tasty. They go well we a nice sweet port wine. I've smoked both the natural and the maduro, and just prefer the maduro for some reason.

Smoking another one of these bad boys with about 2 months on it. This one started out really really good but developed a strong bitter burnt plastic flavor about halfway through. I actually cut it open to see if there was plastic or somthing inside. Nope, just leaf. I think I must have gotten a really bad one. The last one wasn't anything like this at all.

That is a perfect review! The thing about the Edge is its power and distinctive taste. I haven't had a bad one yet and I smoke one Edge a day.
