Tonight I decided to fire up the short Alec Bradley Trilogy Exotic Maduro I received in a samplier from CBID.
This cigar on the pre-light draw reminded me of the FDO Maduro bundled cigar that I really enjoy. It started out a bit strong with that great maduro flavor and then mellowed out to a more medium bodied cigar as I continued to smoke it. The cigar had an ugly uneven cap that came off easily with a nice double blade cutter.
Prelight draw was excellent. It gave me a variety of flavors of coffee, spice, and a bit of a woodsy flavor that were pleasant. The cigar started out strong with lots of flavor and spice. As I continued to smoke it the flavors mellowed out a bit and it became quite smooth but didn't have as much flavor as in the first part of the cigar. As I continued to smoke the flavors picked up a bit and it was pleasant but not what I would call strong. I'd call this a more medium bodied smoke compared to the FDO Maduro. The cigar had a nice white ash throughout and held the ash quite well. I usually had about 2 inches of ash on the cigar before I decided to get rid of the ash in fear of it falling in my lap which has occassion to happen
Overall this was a good smoke, especially when you consider the price. This is something I could definitely consider in my regular every day smoke rotation and might have to pick up a box of these once I smoke the rest of the samplier pack to see if they all are similar.
Nice review. I enjoy the entire Trilogy line. I don't think there's a bad cigar in the any of the ranges -- the Authentic Corojo and Native Cameroon are also very good cigars regardless of price. Makes you wonder where General and Altadis get the balls to charge $10 to $15 for mass-produced junk when Alan Rubin can sell a cigar like this for $5.
The trilogy line is excellent, especially for the price. I don't like the tri-press so much. They always seem to be plugged.
The smaller robusto size is just perfect. The exotic maduro is one of my favorites. The authentic corojo is really good too. The aroma it gives off is a crowd pleaser. Even my wife liked it!

I keep this and the other Trilogy sticks (Authentic Corojo and Native Cameroon) in various sizes around for my every day smokes. I heartily agree with your review and at the pricetag of 3.75 a stick you can't go wrong.
There is a thin line between genius and insanity measured only by success.
CI has 20 for 35 today. just letting yall know. for that price i might pick some up, at the worst, they are good handouts, at the best they are a good smoke for the rotation.

Not the same cigar. The ones on sale are the Trilogy OVATION. Completely different cigar than the Trilogy Exotic Maduro, which is better of the two.
