It's taken me the better part of 2 years to even convince myself to so something like this..so please bear with me Smile Here goes:

Hdm Petit Robusto - 10,3cm/50 ring, Cuban, boxing date unkown.

Appearance & Construction (14 of 15 points)

Beautiful cigar to look at. Reddish brown wrapper, smooth and a little oily as well. Perfectly made cap, that when cut, pretty much popped right off! No veins to really speak of, nice silky feel to the cigar. Only problem was that it is a small cigar (in length), and I wasn't too sure how to hold it!

Flavor (20 of 25 points)

Prelight aroma very prominent. Leathery, earthy and tobacco aromas. As I lit the cigar, plumes of rich smoke, and lots of it. Stronger than I expected at first. First draw almost knocked me out! Black pepper, and leather again. The first 3rd, with a slight bitter taste, but rounded off quickly to earth and pure tobacco. After that, it took on a nice rich, almost sweet taste...sugary, and like some honey. The ending was much like the beginning...stronger and somewhat bitter, but not dissapointing...perhaps a little young.

Smoking Characteristics (25 of 25 points)

Beautiful burn. Draw was absolutely perfect, right down to my blistered fingers! Nice white/grey ash, and re-light never a thought.
Smoking this cigar was a joy, nice and easy and never a problem.

Overall Impression (32 of 35 points)

Overall, a nice lunchtime smoke, which is what I had it with. The sweetness and richness of the smoke during the middle part was very good, and conviced me to try this one again. I think with some age..even a couple of months, would make this cigar simply great! A short, fat cigar from Cuba, with lots of oils that I think would age very, very well.

Overall points... 91 (from 100)

(I will accept all pos/neg critique, in the hope of getting it right next time!)

CF.

A nice review Canoe! They do sound like they might be a little young, wait about 2-3 months and try another if you can. I had some Partagas shorts that were a little young but I couldnt keep my hands off of them. By the time they got really, really good I had done smoked the whole box except 2. Wink
