picked up one of these for about 5 bucks today and thought it would be nice to try.

construction: very dark wrapper with a very sturdy binder and filler, nicaraguan i think, didn't ask about it, and it's heavily bodied and burnt well all the way through, no breaks in the wrapper, burnt pretty even to the finish.

value: for 5 bucks, it's almost as good as my favorite nino vasquez robusto maduro's, but for the extra buck and a half i payed for the saint luis rey, i'd say i should gotten another nino vasquez, it's a good smoke but not oily enough for me.

taste: had a rich taste to it, kind of like a punch maduro or a camacho maduro, but it lacked something, couldn't quite tell what it was, but it got bland around the beginning to the middle and darkened up at the end, now with a nino vasquez and camacho maduro cigars, they're very oily and that's my main preference is the natural oils of the cigar, and this one seemed too dry to me, and it's not the walk in humidor, that's always around 71% humid on the hygrometer.

overall: it's a good smoke, but could've been better, i guess it was worth the 5 bucks i payed, but i would've rather smoked a nino vasquez robusto maduro, a gran habano corojo #5 robusto or a gran habano vl maduro.

anyone have any thoughts on this cigar or anything to add?

WOW $5 for this cigar is really high my friend... You can find them online for half that price.

Having said that I like these cigars and keep some stashed in my humidor all the time.

i've actually grown to like them now, at first it gave off a bad impression plus i was just getting over a cold too, but my senses were working but not well i take it, i've bought about 10 and they're in my humidor right now. they are a little overpriced where i go to, but it's the best shop in town, so i can't really complain, the selection is incredible, he has cohiba, montecristo, don kiki, gran habano, padron, onyx, CAO, camacho, AVO XO/Uvezian, perdomo, la aurora, nino vasquez and many many other different brands, plus he's honest and he will never sell or stock a horrible cigar, so i'm kinda stuck there, hehehe.

I can get these locally for under $4 a stick. I didn't care for them at first, but after about 18 months in the humidor, they were very good.

Sedagive?
