I will preface this with a couple of points- first this is my first real review, and second I am a sucker for royjams. My first exposure to quality in cigars was in the early eighties with royal jamacians from the tinderbox. The wonderful spice and leather really brought the islands to my mind as i sat in my back yard. Of course royals have been kind of lackluster since then- and almost bad at times. The Review This cigar is one of the foil wrapped about 6x50 give or take. Construction is perfect- wrapper almost looks oiled. Fine veination- perfect cap 100% Burn was perfect and draw was medium. I prefer a fairly light draw, but was not hindered by this one at all. Aroma upon lighting had me second guess- there was a bit of those masters at dutchmasters in the pre light whiff- but that was worry for naught as it settled into a fantastic aroma. Flavor wise this cigar did something many don`t- it tasted as good as it smelled. I hate getting a cigar that smells great, but cannot concentrate that flavor- this one did. I would call it a medium body- if mild were 0 and strong 100 it would be a 60. Nice leather and mild spice- not peppery more refined. fairly complex with bits of the choc,cafe,nuts- but just a real rich flavor not overpowered by anything other than tobac. All this being said I can`t say that it is the old royjam i recall. But I do like it quite well and it did have some hints of the past. It may in reality be a better cigar than royal jamacian has ever made, and reminds me of padrons and torano. I would CA rate this one at a 87
Cigar Dave sent me some last month and I agree completely with your review. I thought it was more towards mild than strong, though. I just wish I could describe taste like you can... coffee, chocolate...

90% of the time i am not a taster of the myrid of described flavors. I have smoked of X# of years now and still a lot of cigars are described in notes as "tobac flavored". Of late there seem to be more and more cigars coming out, mainly in the mid priced lines, that have enough purity to limit complexity. I think a lot of blenders went for power and comlexity at the expense of a cigar that can be savored. I am way flattered to have a similar rateing as CA- i will have to get their issue/description to see how full of it i am!
