Carlos Torano 1916 Cameroon
Robusto 5.5 x 52
Cameroon Wrapper
Nicaraguan Binder
Nicaraguan and Honduran Filler

Appearance and Construction 14 out of 15 points

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, rolls a better cigar than the Toranos. I have smoked dozens of them, and have never had a poorly constructed one. This cigar was no exception. The wrapper was simply beautiful and vein free. Other than a Don Carlos I smoked last Christmas, this is the most oily and toothy wrapper I have ever held in my hands. I couldn’t decide whether to smoke it, or take a huge bite out of it.

Flavor 22 out of 25 points

This has become my new everyday smoke over the past month. This is a very medium bodied cigar with a woodsy core that is complimented nicely by that spicy sweet Cameroon taste. The flavor is very consistent throughout, and the finish is long and woodsy. There’s not a trace of harshness or bitterness throughout the entire stick.

Smoking Characteristics 22 out of 25 points

This cigar was an absolute pleasure to smoke. It has been sitting in my cooler for about 3 months, and age has only improved this masterpiece. The cap clipped off perfectly, and the prelight draw was nice and smooth. The cigar burned very evenly, and each draw produced a cloud of thick and creamy smoke. The light gray ash held on for inches at a time before dropping off.

Overall 32 out of 35 points

This is a superb smoke, and in my opinion the best Cameroon out there outside of maybe the Don Carlos. I honestly can not think of an occasion that this cigar would not be perfect for. It’s complex enough for a celebratory after dinner cigar, yet subtle enough to be smoked amidst distractions and still be thoroughly enjoyed.

Total Score 90

Nice review Seahawkfan, I've always liked the 1916s. I've got an old review on here some where of the Churchills. It seems like I mostly smoke the torps now but it would be pretty hard to find a bad vitola in the 1916. Good job Big Grin!

Good review Seahawk and they are also among one of my favorits. I've been curious about the robusto also, thanks. I have about half a box of the torps left in this size, IMO the best vitola of the bunch.

Haven't had a torpedo, but I'm sure its unbelievable knowing the Toranos.

Thanks guys for the compliments on the review. Still new at this, but I'm getting the hang of it.

I love looking at the glowing embers when smoking a 1916, quite possibly the heaviest cigar in production on the planet. It's like watching the sun the cigar is rolled so perfectly. And they burn forever. Plus Torano didn't DYE it like the Tribute. Mad

Peace.

El Prez, I'm sensing a lot of anger when reading your posts lately. Did your mom not hug you enough when you were a child?

Razz

Maybe she hugged him too much.

I like the 1916 robustos. They are a good smoke. The torpedos are a little more flavorful. Every smoke in this line is good.

My wife said I've been a little grumpy lately, the fu(king bitch. Wink

You know, I have been cranky and I feel bad about it. There's only one way to get into a good mood, and that's giving away a bunch of cigars.

Watch for my post!

Peace.

The corona is my vitola of choice.

El P, tell the wife to quit criticizing you. Doesn't she have better things to do? How about laundry, dinner, and a foot rub for starters... Razz

(women, I am so joking, I wouldn't expect the foot rub)

Go Beavs!
