Picked up a Gispert Maduro from my local shop and thought I would use it for my first review.

Apperance and Construction
Nice boxed pressed toro. Mexican Wrapper was dull, velvety and tightly wrapped. Wrapper had small veins running through out but did not distract from appearance. This cigar felt very full and the foot was nice and spongy. Very nicely constructed cap that cut nice and smooth. Small stems or veins were present once the cap was cut. Draw was a little tight but opened up nicely after the first 1/4.

Flavor 21/25
Flavor was a nice light earthy tabacco with a slight non sweet chocalate taste. After the first half I picked up a nice cedary flavor with a more pronounced tabacco taste. Definatley a medium cigar.

Smoking Characteristic 20/25
Ash was nice grey with darker lines throughout. Smoke was nice and not overwhelming to begin with. Amount of smoke increased at the same time the draw became easier.

My opinion of this cigar is very positive. Overall the cigar was good and the price is slightly lower than the Oliva Grand Maduro which I already consider a bargain. Definately pick some up if you enjoy the OGM.

I have had the toro and pyramid in maduro and they are pretty decent for a mild-medium cigar. It's the wrapper that gives it a bit more body.

I bought a couple of these in the pyramid shape -- as I really like the shade wrapper version. I thought the cigars were okay, but compared to some other maduros I have bought lately, including the AB medalist, I thought these were kind of hum drum.

I know its apples to oranges, but I think they did a better job with the Gispert Natural than they managed with the maduro.

Yeah, Gisperts are mild, yet they have just enough comlexity to hold your interest. Combined with the construction and price, they are competitive "bundle beaters." Naturals have a little more complexity and subtle flavors that surprise you, Maduros are a little fuller overall in flavor. They are mild and mild-medium respectively.
