Most people haven't heard of this cigar yet but I don't think it will be long. It is turning heads all over the place already. I picked one up because of the hype and decided to review it.

appearance and construction 14/15
This is a robusto rolled with nicaraguan corojo. It closely resembles the color, appearance, and smell of the camacho corojo line. The roll is perfect. The clip is perfect. The draw is perfect. The appearance is top notch.

Flavor 22/25
Wow! Good strong flavorful smoke. This one is a simple espresso and cocoa type of smoke with hints of cinnamon and a allspice here and there. There is little or no sweetness and the smoke is a little dry but the flavor is rich and the finish is long. This has a very pleasant flavor. I would definitely like a few more of these around. I would say its almost cubanesque.

Smoking characteristics 22/25
Almost perfect again. The burn could have been more even but it burned nice and slow with a nice ash. All in all it was very much above average in this department. And DANG this thing is strong. It is quite a bit stronger than the similarly sized camacho.

Overall 32/35
A must-try for anyone who likes camachos or nicaraguan tobacco. It is close to a camacho corojo but different. I think these are slightly more complex. This cigar impressed me. I am going to see if I can hunt down a box of these.

total 90

I remember reading somthing about these in an issue of CA not that long ago, I think it was the highest rated panatela one month. Also, isn't it a US rolled cigar?

People aren't smoking cigars to be trendy, cool or stylish. They're smoking cigars because they like them. Because they enjoy the experience. Because for about $5 they can spend an hour sampling one of life's greatest luxuries.

I've been wanting to read a review of one of these. I've never had one and didn't know anyone else who had, thanks for the review Pmp! Bub, I remember reading that in CA as well (high rating and US rolled.)

Yeah, they were started by some guy in beverly hills or something. CA had an article about them. Savona rated them very high. That is what initially turned me on to them, and the guy at the big easy tobacco shop was promoting them pretty heartily. The only problem is, the one I tried cost like 12 bucks. For that price I can't really say they are worth it. I'm not sure if the regular line is as good as the reserve but one of these days I'll go pick one up and review it. If the regular line is good, they are like half the price.

These are hard to find and for 12 beans I won't be scoping them out. Why can't they make a top notch nc and just sell it for what it's worth, $1.99 (right Sobek?). Big Grin

Peace.

Sounds like a nice smoke Pmp. I don't know if I could drop 12 bones on one, but we'll see, I might need to try one.

Edit: Whoa! I just checked out 2guys and a box of the Reserve torps sans shipping is the same price as a box of Monte 2's shipped.
Nope, can't justify that.
