(5.5. x 49) This was my first time trying the Hyde Park Maduro. I thought it was mild to medium, it had just an ok draw to it, and burned even the entire time with a nice white ash. The taste was very flavorful and smooth for the first half of the smoke, then started to lose some of its flavor and become bland. Worth trying but not a favorite.

whaat?

I had one a long, long time ago when I was still experimenting with cigars. I wasn't impressed, and that's when I didn't know what a good smoke was.

I've never had the maduro in that size but the normal wrapper is a decent mild smoke. People say a lot of stuff about Macanudo's, but they are a quailty made cigar that is a nice change from time to time. I personally love the Robust's and Gold for a great mild cigar.

My first 'real' cigar was a Mac Baron de Rothschild -- bought a box of 10 back in the 80s and it changed my life. Before that, I was smoking Robt Burns Black Watch, pipe tobacco cigars, etc. Ick!

From time to time, I come back to Macs for the sake of nostalgia but can barely finish one now. There are a few mild cigars I absolutely love -- Fonseca 10-10 is at the top of my list -- but for some reason Macs just make me a little queasy these days.

I believe the Hyde Park is an excellent cigar for someone who is making the step to premium cigars. It burns evenly and has a good draw. It is contructed well and sells for a very reasonable price. However, a more experienced smoker might be a bit dissapointed by the lack of complexity of the flavor in the smoke. Overall, it is a great way to begin smoking cigars so you can really aprreciate a good smoke when you want to make the jump to a more premium smoke.

THe Mac Hyde Park rogbust was one of the 1st purchases I made off of cbid. I enjoyed it alot. I am fairly new to the pasttime of smoking good cigars.I like it very much it burned evenly nice light grey ash had an earthy taste that was very enjoyable. Mild to medium is right tho and as I smoke more and go back and try them they are on the too mild side.

My first smoke was a Mac Hampton Court. If it weren't for the MAc's I probably wouldn't smoke cigars today. Had my first been a LFD or a Padron I probably wouldn't smoke cigars today.

Just bought a set of the Hyde Parks (actually 2 sets) from the local B&M. The Robust is my favorite, but the cafe is great too. The maduro is the worst of the line (IMHO), try the Robust.

I agree with tgherpst, they are a great morning smoke to excite the pallet for the more flavorful smokes later.
