This cigar with its beautiful uber dark wrapper caught my attention in the walk in humidor at my local B&M. The crystal tube with its gold dangle tag called out to me. I'll look good in your humidor. It is beautifully constructed with an almost midnight black dark wrapper, with sensuous oils in the leaf to match its perfectly and snugly rolled feel.
The first few draws after a brief toasting of the foot were seductively rich & robust. I was afraid it would be hugely overpowering, but looks are deceiving. It was a medium to full bodied smoke, but very tame on the palate. I has ample and complex flavors of earth, wood with a cedar note dominating. There are also noticeable touches of sweet rosin, pink peppercorn and saddle leather in the background. The first half burned perfectly with an easy draw and tight ashes. The 14 year old Oban West Highland single malt was a superb match to its very flavorful profile. My only quibble is towards the last third, the draw became a bit more difficult. Perhaps a cigar sicssors would have been a better opening device. Now that I have had this much flavor, I seem to be compelled to get more of these. I think Cifuentes y Cia Partagas have created a modern work of art in this smoke. The hardest part is removing this work of art from your humidor
