Moore and Bode Flamboya'n - Its about a 6x44
Appearance and constuction (13 of 15 points possible)
First is the constuction, a very nicely made cigar with a clean foot, well proportioned cylinder and a nice cubanesque triple cap to go with the flat head. The cigar is nice and firm, with a strangly hued wrapper. Light brown with a green hue best describes the color of this wrapper, it looks kinda dry but has good tooth. The cigar has no band but has a neat little sticker on the back which reads "Moore & Bode Flamboya'n. I think its very unique and different, which is something I like.
Flavor (18 of 25)
The first couple of puffs reveal a dry woodsy smoke, complemeted by spice, leather, pecans, earth and notes of licorice on the tail end. Smoking into the first inch of this cigar reveals a good complexity and ability to change flavors on a dime. The only B!tch is that the flavors are not pronounced enough to really discern alot of them, it could be a bit bolder. The first 1/4 of the cigar is building, the smoke is not as dry anymore but has a nice spicy pepperiness, no overpowering though. The flavor profile at this point consists of cedar, leather, earth and a touch of cocoa on the finish. One thing I notice about this cigar is the ability from puff to puff to go from flavorful and complex to flat and almost bland with just cedary tobacco notes. Alot of just all over the place. At half way the cigar has been and still is a solid medium bodied smoke, however it lost some complexity and richness. At halfway the flavor profile consists of cedary leather, some earth, and a clove type of spice. At almost a third of the way but not quite I pick up a herbal, medicinal quality to the taste not soon to be followed up by hints of ammonia. I laid the cigar down with about two inches left due to overwelming amounts of charcoal, medicinal, and ammonia flavors. The smoke also got hot and acrid on my lips and palate.
Smoking Characteristics (20 of 25 points possible)
The wrapper is very delicate on this cigar. A perfect draw develops mouthfulls of smoke. The aroma is nice with pepper, mesquite, and alot of straight forward tobacco scent. The ash fell off at 1 inch, it was cruchy with the color of charcoal, with alot of black ash mixed in. I was in no ways ruff on this cigar but it developed a crack in the wrapper close to the foot at the half way point. The cigar burned straight for the most part with a couple of wrapper flair ups and splits at the ash but it always corrected themselves and kept a-burnin.
Overall Impression (25 of 35 points possinble)
IMO this cigar was just all over the place and just never developed into anything long enough to savor. I seemed like it was on the brink of breaking out and exploding into a flavor bomb at any moment but just fizzled out. The cigar seemed to be either young or has some underfermeted tobacco in it. To really be fair on this cigar I would havet to aquire another sample and let it settle for at least six months but for some reasone I dont think it would matter. If I was blind folded and just handed this cigar I would probaly guess it to be some new NC Paragas blend. I say this becaus the tobacco just doesnt seem to be of good quality to begin with.

I would like to thank J. sprenkal for going above and beyond the call of duty to bring me this smoke at special request. He is truly a standup guy for doing so for me.
