The presidente is a cuban perfecto that measures roughly 6x47. It is a little longer than the hemmingway signature but roughly the same shape.

Appearance and construction 11/15
The construction was good. The roll was even and the burn was straight. I deduct points for ugliness though. The wrapper is dull, flat, and crude looking.

Flavor 23/25
The flavor was excellent. It was a great smoking experience. At first it started kind of woodsy and light. Then as the perfecto opened up it developed a bit of the classic partagas espresso, spice, and cherries with sporadic mouthfulls of cocoa thrown in. I dug it a lot.

Smoking characteristics 24/25
Doesnt get much better. I haven't had too many perfectos that burned well. This one was an exception. It burned straight and the draw was nice. The strength was well balanced to its richness. A pleasure to smoke.

Overall 32/35
I have heard that these need a lot of aging but this one seemed to smoke well. I enjoyed it and I would love to get some to set aside. The shape is cool. They don't have the strength of a psd4 but they aren't a pushover either. They are exactly what I would expect from a partagas perfecto.

overall 90

I guess I can see the confusion.

Was never impressed with these until recently. Had some 99s, which is a hit or miss year & the Presedentes were a miss- tough draws & little flavor. The batch from July 04 has been excellent. No draw or construction problems & hearty Partagas flavors.

Nice review PMP! I really like the Party flavor profile, they sound close to the shorts.
