We produce a very limted amounts of Padilla Miami 8&11 Pepin Garcia is the most stringent factory supervisor I have ever seen. If a maso or a bundle of cigars is off 3 grams he pulls it from production. Most cigar factories produce 30,000 to 60,000 cigars a day-- this factory produces 1,500 a day, wich do you think is harder to quality control?
A hand made product at times can have trouble but 99% of the response to this cigar and others from the same factory have been extremely positive. we don't increase supply because we can't and we wont that's why we have a certain amount of backorders for Padilla Miami's.
If you have a problem with any of our products please feel free to email me at ernesto@padillacigars.com
I thank you for bringing to my attention any issue with a box one might have had.
Best regards, Ernesto Padilla Padilla cigars

I smoked an 8&11 robusto the other day from a recent shipment (within the last couple weeks) and it was outstanding, though like The Stogiemeister, the oily wrapper gave me a few burn problems. The Hybrid robusto I smoked on Monday (from a March shipment) burned and drew perfectly -- an excellent smoke all around, as were all others from that particular box.
'Smoked My first 8/11 robusto Easter Sunday.Had some burn problems too;had to re lite once, but what a flavor bomb!!! Best of all I tasted 'cashews' 'Ernesto has a real winner here!'

I never did business with either so I don't know. I'd also be interested to know whether DPG is responsible for the blend of the Nicaraguan-made Tauaje Nuevita or whether that's strictly Pete Johnson. Also -- is DPG still working for Tabacalera Tropical? His name is mentioned on their website.
I picked up the 8/11 torp about a month ago after reading the reviews and remembering how much I enjoyed the hybrids when they first came out. Yesterday I finally smoked it as I rode around mowing the lawn. Not what I would call "having my full attention," but regardless I was still able to enjoy it quite thoroughly.
Initial impression was that the wrapper was quite spicy. I let it sit in my mouth for probably four minutes before cutting or lighting it. The spice was very much black pepper, but I thought I detected something else. Ahh yes, aluminum.
In all fairness there wasn't much aluminum taste, but it was noticeable. As soon as I lit it this odd flavor was pretty much gone, but it was interesting to note another Nic with this.
Flavors I found were black pepper, espresso, dark chocolate and at times a slight cream. I really enjoyed this cigar and not surprisingly, the slower I smoked it the better it was. I started smoking faster after I finished mowing, and that pretty much ruined the last inch and a half for me.
In order for this cigar to burn "properly" I had to constantly rotate it, which i prefer to relighting. Still by the end of the smoke the burn had to be corrected via the torch.
I really enjoyed this cigar and would probably pick up another few sticks, but I would be hard pressed to choose one of these over a PAM, even with the price differential.
Well made point about the PSD4s being about 8 vs these at 12, and I agree. Even MC2s are just under 10 a stick (of course, that assumes a good box). If/when Cuba finally moves out from communism I would be interested as to how expensive we see Habanos getting.

The 8/11 has went to shit, more construction issues and burning problems than you can shake a stick at. The customer support is also a thing of the past also, people are getting stuck with whole box's of crap. A $200 dollar box of cigars shouldnt have a wrapper that seems like its make of Nomex.

first off, the band is black, red and gold... I just had one which was absolutely amazing. Maybe they have fixed the construction issues since then. It burned almost perfectly, with flavors coming from everywhere. A bit of spice, wood, followed by creamy chocolate, and finishing up a bit floral with a bit of pepper.
