Pre light It’s a nice, sunny day here in Ohio, and I’ve got the day off from work. I decided I needed a great cigar to celebrate my recent promotion. I opened up the humidor and quickly grabbed one of my remaining Sublimes. A thick cigar with excellent construction, it is covered with a dark, oily wrapper with a few noticeable veins. The cigar cuts easily with the large ring guage. Pre-light aromas and flavors are of cocoa and coffee bean.
1 Third The cigar lights easily wih a good draw and even burn. The palate is filled with cocoa, coffee bean, and sweet flavors. Further into the cigar, notes of roasted espresso flavors become apparent leaving the palate moist.
2 Third The ash is forming very well, and the cigar is burning quite cool. The smoke is plentiful and aromatic. A slight touchup was required. The flavors are remaining full and complex.
Last third There is no slowing down on this cigar. A burn issue was corrected with two minor touchups, but the flavors and aroma more than make up for that. There is a pepper note on the finish. Some mineral notes were also present. Yes, I smoked it to the nub.
Overall impression: An absolutely wonderful cigar from start to finish. I think it is the best EL, if not overall cigar, I have ever smoked.

Thanks for posting this superb review, and validating what I have been trying to tell Trevor for the past few months. No mistaking the real McCoy Cohiba flagship gem. When you are smoking one of these rare gems, the Cuban mystique becomes clear.

That's the thought for anyone who doesn't already own a few sticks or boxes, which includes myself. But at this time, even if you can get a few sticks, there will always be a cloud of doubt over whether the ones you got are real or not. As we've seen with Trevor, even reputable stores and expensive price labels do not guarantee authenticity. Oh well, I'll wait for the Monte Sublimes.

You never know, I thought the same thing about how I would never find Sublimes and ended up scoring a fiver from a BOTL. Same thing with the Partagas Piramides. As for authenticity, they came from reputable members and when going for these older cigars you do have to trust the guy selling to you. When I break into them I will post my thoughts for sure.

Just double up on the alcohol. Everything tastes about the same that way. Similar to one of my dirtbag friend's mottos: "It all feels the same in the dark."
