Montecristo Edmundo
52 x 5 3/8
Vitola: Edmundo
Box Code: ECA DIC 05

Pre-light
These have been resting for a while. It’s a balmy 47 here today so I’m out in the garage. The aroma is of leather and cocoa bean. The cap cuts easily with my Xikar, but I get a small shaving hanging off that is easily removed. The wrapper is a medium brown and oily in nature. There are prominent veins, and there is toothiness to the touch.

1 Third.
The cigar lights well, and the burn is even within the first inch. The flavors are leather and coffee bean in nature. There is a slight grassy flavor to the aftertaste. The cigar is creamy and smooth on the palate.

2 Third
The burn is slightly uneven, and there is a fair amount of smoke pleasing to the nose. The ash is salt and pepper in color. The burn is still causing some problems so I had to touch up. The flavors are remaining consistent. The aftertaste has lost the grassy flavor and is more of a leather flavor now.

3 Third
Flavor profile is staying consistent. There is a slight amount of harshness toward the end. Burn problems abound and require a bit of effort to touch up.

Overall Impressions
A flavorful cigar with complex notes. Some more aging should help to smooth it out. The burn issues took away a little bit from the enjoyment. I’ll have to sample further before making any lasting comments on the vitola.

Rating
4/6 smoke rings (a good cigar)

Nice review. Edmundo is my favorite Monte -- I even prefer it to the No. 2. But just like you, I've had some burn issues with them.

Nice review as always. I, on the other hand, prefer the Edmundo over the No. 2. But like Chris, I will hold that opinion until I smoke more of both.

I did not have burn issues as can be seen from this picture Big Grin : http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2261/2103922185_a92d808465_b.jpg

edit: fixing picture link.

I had one on New Year's Eve and it was a very good smoke. I did not encounter a burn problem and I noticed the taste of leather throughout as well. Now there is only one problem, I'm torn between buying more of these or PE's

Nice ash Bo, I was unable to hold onto it that long, probably due to the uneasiness of my hand late in the evening.

Good review chris.
Similar experiences on my book: leather, a little cream, some spice, woody tones, and I'd say bitter chocolate rather than coffee. Also I had no grassy aftertaste; I usually would recognize that.
Exactly as you described; burn issues to various extent with almost all I smoked. But I found no harshness at all to the end as you did.
Put'em to age if you got'em. I have no more to do that; finished all last summer and never got to buy more.

Thanks for your review.

Edmundos are the best Robusto out there right now out of the island. Although my opinion is that the God of Fire Robusto is the best.
