I just transcribed my notes verbatim, not really time to write it up...

AdC Immensa

5.5X60

Honduran/Nicaraguan blend with an Ecuadorian wrapper.

Reddish tinge to the smooth oily wrapper, medium veins.

Snipped cleanly, difficult with a large gauge cigar. Took to flame very even.

Initial flavors were very full, cedary Honduran profile with some cinnamon and spice. Almost immediately after lighting my Gf walked and without even knowing what I was smoking said, “That smells nice.”

Big cigar, heavy, solid in the hand. Haven’t smoked many 60’s in a while, so it felt a little uncomfortable in my mouth. Struggled to find a comfortable grip, eventually let it rest on the lip of the ‘tray, puffing occasionally.

Paid 5.10 +tax at Holt’s.

I’m a little mixed on the flavor of this cigar. The larger gauge definitely changed the flavor profile of the smaller sized AdC’s I’ve smoked. It wasn’t bad, but different. It was also a little fuller bodied than previous AdC’s. Overall I think the change in flavor was a good thing.

In comparison to other large gauge smokes like Cuban Parejo’s, Perdomo’s Immensa and Monstro and Partagas Black, I’d say this cigar edges them out in complexity and flavor. If you like any of the aforementioned cigars, try this. If you don’t normally smoke large ring gauge cigars, but want to try one, make it this one. It has a full flavor, but more refined than the Perdomo’s and definitely less kick than the Partagas Black. It’s more mild than the LGC SR’s, but far from being mild. It blends it’s strength with some refinement, making it possible to enjoy a cigar this size without killing the palate. The benchmark for large gauge cigars for me is the LGC Series R line and this cigar was a close competitor but fell short. If you think the LGC SR’s are just OK, but want a different flavor profile, try the AdC Immensa.

If you are a lover of smaller ADC’s be warned that the flavor profile is a little different on these. Not bad, just different.

I hope this sheds light on this stocky stogie.

Thanks for posting this. I like the La Aroma, but haven't bought any in a while. I was thinking of giving this a try despite the fact that I am not a fan of the huge ring guage. I went to a perdomo event about 7 months ago at my local and bought a pair to get the free stick, but wish I hadn't. Not only is the thing uncomforable in the hand and mouth, but I think I looked stupid with it. Maybe if I was a much larger guy, with huge hands (I am thinking John "Big Lebowski" Goodman) this is no factor. I keep hanging onto my last cuban parejo as a mooch stick. (really you sometimes buy a cigar when you're at the casino? here, chew on this for a while!)

I have found that the Aroma de Cuba wrapper seems to varry in flavor profile, oil content and even color have varried quite a bit since launching the line.

I wonder if the fuller bodied/different flavor character you described is just the variation in the brand.

BinDer,

i just had a LGC Serie R Limitada tonite. I agree, the best 60 ring gauge cigar I have had thus far. Not as strong as the regular Serie Rs though, do you agree?

Mr. F,

I agree with you that LADC are inconsistent as hell. When they are good they are good, when they are off, they suck worse than Stogie. Wink

I also like the AdC cigar line. They are one of the first "real" cigars I smoked that were not machine made that you can buy at 7-11. I look forward to trying the new size out soon. I have had some construction problems lately with a box of robustos that I bought. One of my buddies bought a box of coronas and had the same problem of uneven burning and tunneling. I hope it was just this batch and they make improvements for the new ones.

I would suggest that the tunnelling, cracking, uneven burn issues are not a fault of Ashton -- owner of the AdC -- but rather a function of buying cigars at a 7-11. I recently found some great LGC Limitadas in a c-store and was positively shocked to find them well cared for -- C-store operators (IMEx) don't usually provide the TLC a tobbaconist does.

Letting them settle down for 2 or 3 months in a stable humidor at 65% might help even them out.

I didnt buy the cigars from 7-11. I was saying the AdC's were the first real cigar that I had smoked that didnt come from a 7-11. I get my cigars from a regular smoke shop now. The Ashton rep smoked one of my cigars and said they were poorly constructed. He replaced the box I bought with new ones.

Thanks BinDer, I was looking for a new large ring and I love the LGC Series R. I smoked a 60 ring Casa Blanca Maduro a couple of days ago and suprisingly enough was very impressed by the overall smoke. I will try this one.
