I just transcribed my notes verbatim, not really time to write it up...
AdC Immensa
5.5X60
Honduran/Nicaraguan blend with an Ecuadorian wrapper.
Reddish tinge to the smooth oily wrapper, medium veins.
Snipped cleanly, difficult with a large gauge cigar. Took to flame very even.
Initial flavors were very full, cedary Honduran profile with some cinnamon and spice. Almost immediately after lighting my Gf walked and without even knowing what I was smoking said, “That smells nice.”
Big cigar, heavy, solid in the hand. Haven’t smoked many 60’s in a while, so it felt a little uncomfortable in my mouth. Struggled to find a comfortable grip, eventually let it rest on the lip of the ‘tray, puffing occasionally.
Paid 5.10 +tax at Holt’s.
I’m a little mixed on the flavor of this cigar. The larger gauge definitely changed the flavor profile of the smaller sized AdC’s I’ve smoked. It wasn’t bad, but different. It was also a little fuller bodied than previous AdC’s. Overall I think the change in flavor was a good thing.
In comparison to other large gauge smokes like Cuban Parejo’s, Perdomo’s Immensa and Monstro and Partagas Black, I’d say this cigar edges them out in complexity and flavor. If you like any of the aforementioned cigars, try this. If you don’t normally smoke large ring gauge cigars, but want to try one, make it this one. It has a full flavor, but more refined than the Perdomo’s and definitely less kick than the Partagas Black. It’s more mild than the LGC SR’s, but far from being mild. It blends it’s strength with some refinement, making it possible to enjoy a cigar this size without killing the palate. The benchmark for large gauge cigars for me is the LGC Series R line and this cigar was a close competitor but fell short. If you think the LGC SR’s are just OK, but want a different flavor profile, try the AdC Immensa.
If you are a lover of smaller ADC’s be warned that the flavor profile is a little different on these. Not bad, just different.
I hope this sheds light on this stocky stogie.
