In the past I was never willing to shell over the cash for a Davidoff...but I finally decided..why not. I went to one of the local tobacco shops and found they only had one type of Davidoff in stock, the short perfecto. For $17.00, I picked one up. The short perfecto was slightly larger and little longer then the Fuente Hemingway Short Story, (and three times the price)...When I unwrapped the cigar it was made perfectly, not one imperfection. The smoke was great. Started off a little harsh, but mellowed out to a medium nice enjoyable taste....If I were to grade it I would easily give it a 92.

glad you liked that perfecto. ive looked at them a couple of times. you should look at twoguyssmokeshop.com, policeguy. the run them for like 11.90 or something. better price than 17$. ive made the choice to not buy from davidoff. i dont care how good they are. you are paying for the name b/c davidoff is a watch maker, cologne and other. they bought into cigars. with the exception of litto gomez, im trying to stay away from any cigar that isnt generational. maybe im wrong but davidoff has enough money. i hate big corp's buying in and putting their name on cigars. at least litto is running his own farm. someone correct me if i've mis-spoken here. i get inspired when i see video's of the padrons, or fuente's or even torano's.

I think that, in a few years, you'll look back on that "92" rating and wonder what the hell you were thinking. Davidoff is a high-quality cigar but it doesn't approach the flavor and complexity of much less expensive cigars like Ashton VSG, Oliva Master Blends, etc. It's a luxury brand, pure and simple. That said, from time to time I like a Millemium Blend churchill or robusto but that's a rare occasion given the price and competition. Glad you enjoyed it, though.

Glad you have an open attitude towards trying new stuff. I used to go bonkers too thinking how many brands and blends and sizes out there to try...!!! Hope you are keeping a log of your cigar adventures...and bands...and pics...
I agree that Davidoff is definately overpriced but they can be very good cigars too.

yea i'll correct ya there on that. this is the first i have heard of davidoff just buying into cigars. i work for davidoff so i have a little bit of knowledge of the company. here's a little backround history of zino davidoff.. zino davidoff the company.. davidoff or just google DAVIDOFF and learn more your self. i think you should have done a bit more research before making acusations like that. the guy invented the desk top humidor for christ sakes.the lighters, watches, cologne came after the cigars. davidoff has paid their dues and they make an excellent product. yes over priced but high end at that. as for policeofficer.. the reason you paid so much for that cigar is because the shop you bought it in was not an actual liscensed davidoff distributor. you said that there was only one size right? well i know for a fact that to sell davidoff's products(the white labels) you are in a contract agreement to cary almost ALL of there line, no matter the size or shape(with few exeptions).you also have to sell a certain amount of the cigars in order to keep the contract and a rep of davidoff does the inventory, not the cigar shop owner.this shop(you got yours) simply bought a box somewere else and put it up on his shelve and resold them rediculously marked up. you can get them cheaper.you may be able to find some on line in a few cases, but davidoff sells to only brick and motor cigar shops so you won't find any on online outlet sites. davidoff cigars are great.i am not just saying that because i work for them. try a #2 or a 2000 or special "r". flawless in contruction, flavor and burn. most people can't afford them everday and i know if i didn't get hooked up i couldn't either. there are defintaly other great cigars that i smoke as well. fuente hemingways, padron's, rp's,aurora, cohiba (dc). dont forget that avo's and zino's are from davidoff as well. they are cheaper and just as good in construction and taste. i have many of white labels i am wiling to trade policeofficer so email me if your interested.
thanks for the additional info on the davidoff. Seems to me that its run more like a corp business and not a tobacco farm. You got me wanting to try one now and I was so against them. They better be f'in perfect for the price they put on them. I still have my doubts though. Got their hand dipped in a lot of jars. Good for you, you work for them. Why dont you go back and tell them they need to prove someone wrong. In my post I asked to be corrected if I've mis spoken, not for some smart ass comment and stupid smiley faced icons rolling their eyes. Save that for your kids.

The only Davidoff cigars i enjoy smoking are the Cuban ones they haven't been made for years. Supply is low demand is high this leads to the extreme price these cigars demand. But they are worth every wasteful dollar.

I had the Davidoff short perfecto earlier this week as well. Agreed on the great construction and draw... it was a good smoke, but definitely overpriced IMHO. Not as good as the Best Seller.

Yeah spt i have tried the non Cuban Davidoffs. As i have said i do not care for them i mean they are good cigars but not anything special. And they also demand a premium price. Look i will put it another way. At there price there are many other cigars much better. Like a Padron 1926 or 1964,Litto Gomez small batch, Tatuaje,Fuente Hemingway to name a few.

FYI - If anyone is looking for an online retailer to order Davidoff's from Famous Smokeshop carries almost the entire collection and decent (for Davidoff) prices. My first exposure to the Davidoff's was a 4 pack of the perfectos and I loved everyone of them.
Warm Texas evening, comfy chair on the deck, 3 fingers of Wild Turkey, dog at my feet, and a good cigar. It doesn't get any better!

as for you asking to be corrected and not a bunch of smiley faces, oh well. you put yourself out there to be called out and i did it in the way I felt like doing it. i mean complete lie after lie like your in kindergarten, i felt the smiley faces necessary. i thought that i was dealing with some people who had much knowledge about cigars and the cigar industry in general here at ca, than i come across your post....you openly go on the forum talking smack about a company that you know absolutely nothing about, but the way you talk you make it seem as if you know exactly what you are talking about. its completey absurd to even say such things before doing a little research on your own about it.you didnt just say "hey i think davidoff is a big company that just bought in to cigars, i think", you stated one falsehood after another, thats the only reason i even mentioned it. imagine you are a big fan of the yankees and your scrolling across a baseball forum and some random guy posts: "hey i dont even like derek jeter, he was born in canada, his father is a king in bolivia, he played for the red sox for 3 years before joining the yankees, he never played baseball before that in his life he just paid his way in to the game,i would never root for him because joe torrey is his father in law and he gets special treatment, BUT correct me if i may be wrong" !!?!?!? complete b.s right there and he definalty deserves to be called out and put in his place, right? well i actually thought i was rather nice about it. zino davidoff has been in the tabbacco industry since he was born, he took over his fathers small cigar shop and made an empire out of it, with his bare hands, sweat and tears. they deserve to promote the finer side of cigars and living. i got no beef with ya spt, thats wasnt my intention of joining this forum, i have spent many of years fighting and beefing with people, i am over it. i love cigars and i love to talk about them. i oppoligize for coming off like that. e mail me your address and ill send ya some davidoffs to try if you would like. later.

Looking at the whole post, I'm not sure how I can respond and keep from turning this into lame forum battle. Your post goes overboard with the Derek Jeter crap. I put two or three things out there that I thought about Davidoff and asked to be corrected if I mis spoke. And, I'll be the first guy to say I am new to cigars but don't try to start some sh't saying I don't know squat. I do my homework too and I;m just as into cigars as the next guy. No doubt you got a strong tie to Davidoff and thats good, but I dont see Padron or Fuente with their name on watches or any other goods but cigars. Again, I could be wrong about this. I'm not doing the research I should be, right? BUT, that's all I'm saying. I went out and bought an AVO and it was ok, but nothing. It was better than a Macanudo but not close to a diamond crown. I can only compare it that way b/c that's my take on it as I smoked it. I'm not one to ever refuse a cigar and I'll take your gesture as a sign of friendship. I'm willing to bury the hatchet b/c everyone on here seem to have chips on their shoulders and want to top everyone else, in knowledge, in cigar brands, in seniority, whatever. I've made a few friends on here, SHB is one, and we started out pissing on each other. I'd be glad to have another. But I want to put it to you that your comment of "i have spent many of years fighting and beefing with people," is making me feel like you want me to know your mastered or something. Don't say things like that to me, it's like a dog marking another's spot. I'll shoot you an email, and if you want to send me a davidoff, great. who knows, you may just persuade me.
