LA FLOR DOMINICANA - LITTO GOMEZ DIEZ ANOS; Chisel Puro (5X50) AndyMiami sent me one of these to try along with a Fonseca Bullet (the infamous “Soap Torpedo”) and a Mag 46 (CC-wow!) Thanks again Andy!
APPEARANCE AND CONSTRUCTION: A semi-torpedo with a “chisel” tip; does not come to a point, but is rolled with something akin to a clarinet, or saxophone mouthpiece. Beautiful mottled red-brown, oily wrapper with a few large veins, firm with no soft spots, and very well constructed. Nice clean clip and a free draw. The chisel tip is very interesting; firm, and fits very comfortably in the mouth.
FLAVOR: A real flavor bomb, but definitely packs a punch. Not for the faint of heart. From the first light, tons of dense creamy smoke, and the wrapper has a really tasty Sun-Grown flavor, I think it’s a Corojo wrapper, not sure, but definitely reminded me of other SG Corojos I’ve had. Great aroma and complex flavors of cedar and wood, nuts, white pepper & spice, and a few that I really can’t describe, other than great tobacco flavors. The flavor profile reminded me a lot of a Camacho 11/18. The unique shape of the chisel tip seemed to highlight the way the smoke bathed my palate. I wish more makers would try this shape, it’s very interesting.
SMOKING CHARACTERISTICS: Had some burn issues that required adjustment, but only in the first two inches or so, after that, razor sharp. Ash was firm, but with a touch of flaking. Burned nice and cool without any harshness, even though it took my head off. I enjoy full bodied smokes immensely, but I had the flu for almost three weeks, and had not smoked much. I was enjoying it so much, and it was so smooth, that I didn’t realize how strong this puppy was until I got up to get some more Port, and almost fell on my ass! I wish I could have nubbed it, but my head was spinning so much, that I had to put it down with a bit over an inch or so left (usually my favorite part). I should have saved it until I was a little more “up to snuff”.
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: Very enjoyable, complex and flavorful. Strong, but never bitter or harsh in any way. I haven’t seen these anywhere locally, and in looking around on the ‘net, they appear to be very rare; most places are sold out of them, and from what I’ve read, they are very limited production. Great cigar if you like a full-bodied smoke, and can find them. Thanks again Andy for letting me try one of these!
Excellent!

Was it the Maduro or the Nattie? I've smoked a few of the Maduros, and have one of the naturals sitting in the humi that Smokum sent me. Nice review by the way.
The chisels I have had weren't as strong as I was expecting, but that's probably because I've only had the maduros, which have a slight sweetness like one would expect.
Idesign, I don't thin the litto gomez chisel comes in natty or maduro just natty. You might be thinking of the double ligero. I have a litto from andy in the box beggin to be smoked. One of these days.

I love the Double Ligero chisels...Guess it's time to order some more stuff!

I believe the wrapper on this one was a Sun Grown, I'm really not sure...it definitely had an SG flavor,....it's a Dominican Puro, very distinctive. I forgot to mention that this was the Litto Gomez Diez Anos Chisel Puro (Red & Gold band with "Diez", Litto Gomez, and Dominican Puro around the large LG) and is not the usual LFD chisel....I'll amend the review.

To me, the naturals are stronger.
Natural chisels are hilarious to give to friends who smoke like Tom Arnold and blow through a cigar in 5 minutes. Well...sometimes it's not that funny and you feel bad afterwards.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. Every time I've been at my local shop, they have been out of the naturals, and only had the maduros. I have a natty that Smokum sent me, sitting in the humidor. Maybe I'll have to fire it up this weekend.

These cigars are killers. Great smokes and are hard to find now. I was told they were a limited number I have a few left and if I find more I will buy them, but I think they may be getting hard to find now especially with most sites being sold out. Hopefully they will continue to make them though.
