Appearance and Contruction (13 of 15 points possible)
A nice chocolatey colored cigar of rich dark brown with minimal vein and good oils. The cigar is solid and carries a good heft. The cap however could have been done a bit better, it was kinda sloppy. The red, gold, and black band constast nicely with the dark maduro wrapper.
Flavor (21 of 25 points possible)
The first couple of puffs reveal a smokey chocolate, followed by wood, earth and some nuttiness. At 1/4 way the cigar is really tasty, it has good complexity and a core of flavors that consist of wood, dark chocolate, earth and more nutz. The same flavors are still present but have changed a bit, the wood is becoming more of a hickory note and the chocolate is more of powdery cocoa. At half way the core of flavors are marked by sweetwood, cocoa, nuts and hints of leather on the finish. It's so far a very enjoyable smokes. As the cigar burns down past the halfway point the wood identifies itself as the most stand out flavor instead of the chocolate which now takes second followed by some leather and nuts. So far the flavors have been good and well pronounced, but at almost 3/4 they seem to be muddling and loosing some distiction. I'm now at the 3/4 mark and the flavors are sweet wood, bittersweet chocolate and a certain nuttiness on the finish. The cigar was a smooth medium full smoke all the way through. I laid it down with 1" left, it just didnt build to a grand finale. The first half was much better that second which just petered out and lost distinction.
Smoking Characteristics (22 of 25)
After a nice clean cut the draw was perfect, the draw was loose with a hint of resistance. The aroma is nice with a toasty tobacco note followed by a chocolatey cake aroma and wood. The cigar also produced loads of smoke. The ash fell off at about 1 3/4 it has a blackish ash with some silver and brown mixed in the core, the texture was hard and crunchy. The cigar burned slightly uneven at times but it was no biggy and required no touchups.
Overall Impression (31 of 35 points possible)
A nicely constructed maduro that burned well, had good flavor but left something to be desired in the second half. It was a ideal maduro with its sweet wood, chocolatey-ness and flavors of nuts. The ash got pretty flakey after the second half and it just lost complexity, boldness and distinction. All in all I enjoyed it, just wish it would of finished better.

Great review Stoge. I smoked the very same cigar yesterday and you described the flavors perfectly. I was also extremely impressed with the perfect burn - as this has changed and been improved dramatically over the Perdomos I smoked a couple of years ago. Thanks for a great review. Andy

I'm looking forward to smoking the maduro in this line, so far i've only smoked the cameroon, and it was the best perdomo i've ever smoked. Now my shop has quit carrying perdomo, because of all the complaints and low sales, so i'll have to go and find a couple of these to try...

The first one I smoked had major issues and I couldnt even review it, but this one was ok. I have the sungrown and Champagne to left to review. All of these have at least 6 months of rest or better.

I've smoked the whole sampler, and they are easily the best Perdomos I've had. The Cammie was the best of the bunch, but the others weren't far behind. Now if only you didn't have to take out a second mortgage to try the Edicion de Silvios.....
